Help: TV Program to DVD

I recently recorded a TV show with my Hauppage TV card and I believe it is in an MPEG file. The file is about 3.7gb.

I want to convert my MPEG file to a DVD file and burn it on my DVD. Previously I had only burn my TV recordings in VCD format.

One more question, is there any software that can edit my show to get rid of the advertisements, like cutting and stiching it up again. I got a copy of the nanopeg software but it hangs everytime.

I would appreciate any help or guide to do this. Thanks in advance!!
