Is there anyway to mod an xbox 360 without spending too much money or by buying cheap things at a wallmart or hardware store? I've got a 360 thats just laying around and doesn't read disks anymore so i'd like to make some use out of it. If you know tell me and i might need help in the process.

Sell it on craigslist or ebay.
Because you would need a working dvd drive which is probably about 30 plus dollars plus whatever you need inorder to flash the new drive to work with your system. So if you are trying to not spend money you are better off getting rid of it and making some money right?

My dad smokes and you know what smoking does to computers and stuff? Things build up in it like nicotine and there was already dust and stuff so i took it apart and cleaned it out. It was a launch 360 anyway and i got a new one so i don't have a use for it anyways.

It depends on what all you are selling with it.
I know in my area RROD 360's with just the console and maybe the power brick and component cable are going for $65 to $80.

But you could check on ebay and craigslist and see what other people are asking for theirs.

i would ask for like 80$ and btw nicotine actually dosn't harm pc's. i know a guy with close to 10 computers lives in a trailer with 3 smokers and he has stuff from 8-9 years ago that still works, he give away to people less fourtnate.

You can't be serious? Nicotine doesn't harm electronics? It's good your buddy is giving them to less fortunant because no techie would want them. Have you looked inside equipment thats been around smokers? I guess not. Not good!

Noooo lol it didn't electronically harm it just it build up inside of the 360 causing it to constantly over heat. Everything works fine on it just no disks work. It loads the dashboard and everything just fine lol.
