It sounds like your PSP has been bricked.

"Bricked" reffers to any PSP which has had it's original BIOS damaged by means of Flashing and no longer functions. Bricking is a risk anytime you must Flash the PSP BIOS (such as during the install of a custom firmware, or downgrading to a lower firmware), and can result in symptoms exactly like yours.

There are rumoured ways of "unbricking" a PSP, but most are just that; rumours.

Generally, once bricked, a PSP is completely and utterly useless.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Well lets start off with a question... Is the psp originally yours or did you buy it from someone. If you bought it then you may have gotten a pandora's battery with it. The pandora battery can be made by physically opening the battery and modding it or by using the service tool made by Datel. The pandora's battery is used for unbricking, upgrading and downgrading custom firmwares so the user can play backup psp games and homebrew applications (ie super nentendo, and PSone). so to fix it you probably just need to get a new battery if its been hard modded (or it's been modded by disassembly) or you can get the Datel service tool and convert it back to a regular battery (instructions are included with the service tool). To actually purchase the service tool just go to codejunkies.com and look for it. So, in conclusion, your best bet would probably be to get another battery that you know is working and see if it will power your psp without the AC adapter. If it does then just get a new battery if it doesnt then you may have a whole new set of problems.

By the way what is the current firmware? you can see what you are running by:

Settings --> System Settings--> System Information

They Current Version will be listed next to "System Software"

k my what happened so far is it was 3.70 or whatever the current version is. Then i got a max datel battery i followed the guide and made it to 3.73. I was not away that this version was good enough to play roms. Thats all i want to do with this thing is play roms.
I made a post on afterdawn and in 3 days i got like 2 responces and no one helped. SO i went again and reformatted my mem stick again and re did the guild but instead of option 1 i hit option 4 as i remember. IN the pandora thing. Ever since then the problem i got now is what i still got. I put in a game and i tried to upgrade it with the game firmware and there was a error. so i dont know what to do. If anyone could help that be great. WHen i got the battery the guy i baught it off of. He is from uk. It came with a disk aslo but i used the pandora guide on here.
I have a fat psp btw

remaking the magic memory stick may be the way to go because usually when you reformat any device all of the data is erased. but remember that you may just have a faulty battery. they do go bad over time so like i said, try one that you know works. maybe yours is just on the fritz and needs to be replaced. I mean hell, i've already had to send in my PS3 to sony so they could replace the blu-ray player so the fact that a psp battery is bad wouldnt surprise me at all.

you can go to any retailer that sells psp accessories and get one. Gamestop, target, wal-mart, EB Games. honestly i would start there. once you've done that and youve confirmed that your new battery use your pandora tool on that guy then make and use your magic memory stick. like i said, if you get a new battery and it doesnt work then maybe something is wrong with the actual port that the battery goes in on the back of your psp.

I mean do whatever you want, but check both for sure. Making the magic memory stick is cheaper so try that first and if it doesnt start up with the battery then you know to try a different battery. basically if the battery you have is already a pandora battery then the magic memory stick will work automatically. so turn your psp completely off, as in hold the power button for like 5 seconds until it shuts down completely (if you flip the power switch for like 1 sec it goes to a type of standby mode). put your magic memory stick into the memory stick slot and put in your battery. if your battery is a pandora battery the psp will start to mod itself immediately upon start up. if you still have a blank screen then you do not have a pandora battery.

PANDORA GUIDE: THOSE THAT HAVE 1.50 FIRMWARE PSP

Go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the Pandora Battery Creator.

Press triangle to backup the battery eeprom. The PSP will then reboot to XMB.

Run the Pandora Battery Creator again via Game Menu Memory Stick and press X to convert the Battery to service mode. The PSP will reboot to XMB.

Turn off the PSP and take out the Battery.

Now use the Magic Memory Stick + Pandora Battery on the PSP that needs to be unbricked or Custom Firmware installed to.

After the custom firmware is installed take out the Battery and plug the PSP in via AC Adapter and turn the PSP on (without the Battery inserted).

After the PSP boots to XMB place the Battery into the PSP and go to Game Menu Memory Stick and select OS Pandora Battery Tool.

You will get a warning screen just press X to get to the Main Menu. When the Main Menu comes up go to "flash only serial from mso:/eeprom.bin"

Go to Quit Now and it will exit to the XMB. Now turn off the PSP and unplug it from AC Adapter. Now Take out the Battery then re-insert the Battery replacing the battery cover and use as normal now..

that was the last step i did before i found out my batt. was not working.

well if you are already at 1.5 just try doing it like this:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/569454

that should get your firmware up to the desired spot. as far as your battery i dont know what to tell you until you try another one. but if you are already on 1.50 you shouldnt need a pandora battery to get to the firmware you want to get to. its good to have a pandoras battery in the case your psp bricks.

Awesome man thats great news. here is the guide i use. I feel its the best one out there. The guide only goes to 3.90 m33 but 4.0 is out at www.dark-alex.org.

Here is the Guide:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/616311

just follow these steps and you will be good as gold. I personally keep mine at 3.80 m33-5 but that's just me. you should test them until you find the one you want. as far as converting it back to the regular battery, to do that just stick the battery in your Datel Service Tool. If the battery is a pandora then the green light on the left will be on. To switch it back push the button on the bottom of the service tool. when the green light on the right is eluminated you know its back to a regular battery. if your battery has been "pandorized" with a hard mod (ie taken apart and permenately modded) then the Datel Service Tool probably isnt going to change it back to normal. Good luck and im glad you got your psp working. I mean seriously... there is nothing like playing mario 3 while you are taking a monster dump :)

yep as long as you have an m33 custom firmware you should be fine. like i said just follow the steps. the magic memory stick is what put your settings to what they are now (3.71 m33-2 and name Karin) it does that for everyone. when i use the magic memory stick it puts my psp to those same settings. I use this guide to get back to 3.80 m33-5. just download the said files in the tutorial. follow the tutorial and it will tell you where to put the files on your memory stick. also i would recommend 2 memory sticks. I have 2 myself. I keep one as my magic memory stick ONLY and one as my regular memory stick. I never use my magic memory stick unless i want to unbrick my psp. it just sits in my case wating for my next unbricking.

No make the ISO folder in the root of the psp memory stick and put the PSP Game ISO in there. As far as the super nintendo and such just search the forums here for it... its kind of a process. but you actually put those emulators in the PSP -> GAME folder. And to get the PSP Game ISO to work you need an actual psp game or disc. I use the Demo disc that came with my psp when i bought it. but you can go and get a really cheap game from a game store or maybe you can actually find a demo disc. so pretty much, you need an actual UMD disc (I think ony demo discs and games work but im not sure) in your psp.

How far you upgrade your psp to is up to you. if you prefer 3.90 m33 then just stay there but if you would rather use 4.01 m33 then keep upgrading. if you upgrade and you dont like 4.01 m33 then use your magic memeory stick and start over at 3.72 m33. you really just have to figure out which one works for you. Like i said i was using 3.80 m33-5 and all of my newer psp ISO games run fine. And, in my opinion, I think 3.80 m33-5 works the PSone emulator the best. so that is pretty much why i use that version of custom firmware.

If you run your magic memory stick again (with pandora battery) it will put you back to 3.71 m33 and you can upgrade to 3.80 m33-5 from there. and yes you need an actual UMD in your psp. The PSP ISO and PSP CSO will not run unless you have an actual psp disc in your psp. Don't get that confused with emulation though. You can run your super nintendo, regular nintendo, PSone and whatever other emulator you can put on your psp without the UMD. The UMD is specifically used to get the CSO and ISO files of a PSP game to work. It has something to do with reading the copyright of the disc. If you dont have the disc in your PSP you are going to get errors when you try to run your PSP CSO or PSP ISO games. Oh and good find with the emulator page, i didnt even know it existed. Im gonna check out some of them myself. another note, if you are satisfied with 3.90 m33 then keep it. I just had trouble getting some PSone games to run with 3.90 m33 custom firmware.
