I believe you need to use the 3.3 compatible twilight hack, since any disk needs to be truncha signed to run in wii mode, and 3.3 blocks that.

Yes you should be able to run the new twilight hack with the Gecko RF .elf in the root directory on the SD card. Gecko RF will load, then you eject the Twilight game disc and put the Homebrew Channel .iso disc in. This worked for me with the Duplicate Channel Remover .iso disc. Haven't tried the Homebrew channel .iso, not sure if I would use it, but it should work.

How did you do that?

Did you just iso disc directly?

I do not have the Twilight Princess game but I do have the drivechip installed which allows me to run region free games. I want to install the Homebrew iso... what method did you use

You can't just use an iso disk to run the homebrew channel with 3.3update, you can however install it with the twilight hack.

You can use a back up of a zelda game.

Go to this sight this is were I figured out how to do it.

IT depends if your modchip is set up for region free than yes I belive it can be any region. If your mod chip isn't then you can only use your region.

Do a google on it to make sure.

OK - I downloaded the Twilight Princess game. I do not know if its NTSC-U or PAL or NJSC-J
I played the game and saved the game alright.

I followed all the steps for installing the TP Hack. I was stuck in deciding what DAT (Saved Game) version to use NTSC-U 1 or 2 or PAL or NTSC-J

I choose the NTSC-U 01 and ran the install thinking it will prompt me for an error if I am using the wrong version but it did not and let me complete the install.

Now I have the Homebrew Channel, and I can access the items in it. BUT I am not sure if it is correctly installed on not? as everywhere it was mentioned I need the correct region dat file?

I'm also interested in installing the Homebrew channel... By doing this could trucha signed games run on 3.3? Would it be easier to do it and THEN upgrade to 3.3 or should I upgrade to 3.3 and then do the Zelda hack?

If you are not at 3.3 then just don't upgrade and you can run trucha signed disks without a problem.

Also if you are on 3.2 or lower you can install the homebrew channel via DVD, you don't need the TP hack.

Thanks, but eventually I will have to upgrade... so if I install the Homebre Channel and then update to 3.3, will the update disable it?

I installed the Homebrew application because few games were not running. The games are still not running using the Region Free.
After reading a post I am thinking of the game might be Trucha Signed.
I had already upgraded to 3.3U firmware before installing the TP hack and Homebrew.

My questions are.

1. In my previous post I wanted to know if the Homebrew is installed correctly?
2. How to figure out if the Game is Trucha signed?
3. If the games are Trucha signed how do i play them?

What ?

Thats why you installed Gecko isn't it ?

You run trucha signed disks through Gecko RF.

Well yes thats the reason why I installed the Gekho Region Free application.

See I bought 40 backup games with my modded Wii. All of them work without a problem of any region. 8 Games do not work. So after reading up I assumed that maybe these games are Trucha Signed and I need the Regionfree to get them working but they still do not work!!!

1. Either the regionfree/homebrew app is not installed correctly.
2. The games are on very bad media and the games are not Trucha signed.

I do not how to troubleshoot this problem... Please advise.

Well, if the homebrew channel opens up when you click on it then I would assume it is installed correctly. Same goes for Gecko.

If you have tried launching the games through Gecko and they still don't work and given that many of the others do work. I would think the problem lies with the bad burn / bad disk factor.

Its what you get for buying shonky software :)

Isn't Mario Galaxy trucha signed by default?

Why ?

I have no trucha signed games, there is only a need to resign them if they are altered in some way.

Thanks ggbarnum for all your help - I think I need to read more about what is Trucha Signed and why it is used for.

So I guess I really had no need to go throught the hassle of of TP and installing the Homebrew App.

Still is would you know how to identify a trucha signed game?

Well, I think some of the Scrubbed games are Trucha signed, and I had read Mario Galaxy was trucha signed... Is this true? Also, if I install the Homebrew Channel and then get Gecko RF while on 3.3, will I not have to worry about my trucha games not working?

As it says several times in this thread alone....

If you are on 3.3 then you can run trucha games through gecko.
