I am new in the Nintendo wii scene.

I have a friend who is coming over from Dubai on Sunday. He has bought me Wii Console NTSC (Do not know if its J or U). It is modded (I do not know how). He has got 35 Games cd with it which play ok.

In the excitment of receiving it I have already ordered Wii FIT which is from a UK website (So it would be PAL)

Now after reading more about the Wii I came across sites and like this forum for the interesting reading. So now I have few questions

1. How would I find out what region is it NTCS-J or NTCS-U?
2. How would I know what Nintendo firmware it has?
3. How would I know what chip/mod it has?
4. How would I know what firmware version is the chip?
5. Will my Wii Fit PAL version play fine with NTSC-J/U?

1) Look in the wii options menu under wii settings. It will tell you the firmware and region at the top right corner
2) See answer #1
3) Open the console up and look at it, that's really the only way to be sure
4) There's no way to know
5) Depends on several factors. What chip you have, what firmware the chip is at, if the chip has it's region override setting turned on, exc...

Also beware of bricking when running your out-of-region game. You'd best make a brickblocked copy to avoid that risk.
