d2ckey faulty?

okay so tonight i sat down and spent 4 hours installing the d2ckey on my wii that i know is infact a d2c not a d2c2. I have no bridges i checked for them as i went. So i hook it up to my wii and when i start the red LED fades away but the blue one stays on and the wii dvd drive will not spin the disc eject the disc or anything almost like it has no power. With the modchip out the drive works just fine tho. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with it?
