Wiikey Soldering [Please Help!!!]

My friend, which is going to solder my Wii was suppose to come yesterday to solder my wii. But he never came. He is going to come tomorrow instead. He don't have much experience on soldering wiikey. Please give me a indepth guide or link to teach how to solder wiikey. I got many guide, but none of them tell it depthly. Like how long to let the 15w Soldering Iron to heat up or where to put the electrical tape on the wiikey. I'm not good searcher so please help! Thanks.

To be honest, if you need those sort of questions answered I wouldn't let him anywhere near my wii. Anyone who is a good enough solderer to install a chip would know all that.

It the same methods as the other guide... Hmmm.... Can you please answer these question instead of giving me a guide please? It'll be much quciker that way.
1. Where do I put the electrical tape?
2. How long to let the Solder Iron to heat up?
3. How long to let the Solder iron on the Wiikey Bead and points?

1. You put electrical tape on the whole chip and anywhere else you applied solder.
2. Until it is hot enough to melt solder.
3. Less than 3 seconds. Not even 3 more like 2. Just use common sense.
4. Yes just follow them.

1. Until you applied a considerable amount of solder- not too much though- on each point.
2. Varies from modder to modder- no definite answer. Varies from 10 minutes to an hour or more.
3. Stop asking such n00by questions because I fear for your Wii.

It doesn't take very long to solder, but it depends on how good you are at it. It could take minutes, it could take hours.
Also I would recommend using wires instead of soldering the chip directly. Considering the questions you asked it seems as though your friend isen't too experienced, so this would make it much easier for him.
Referring to your first question, what do you mean by this? You just need to melt the solder. It should only take a second or two and you will be able to see it.
Considering your questions, I would have your friend practice before he jumps right into it. The biggest issue to watch out for is holding the soldering iron on the board too long. This could burn out the pads, which you would have to have fixed if you wanted to install the wiikey.

I don't think the pads are fixable if you burn them out actually. What you have to do is solder to the IC legs if you were to destroy one of the pads, and if he messed up soldering to one of them then soldering to a chip leg is most likely beyond his ability.
Then again I pulled a solder pad off of my wiikey and had to solder to a chip leg and was able to without too much difficulty. But the chip legs on the wiikey are somewhat larger than the legs of the wii chipset (Also that solder pad came off REALLY easily so I don't think it was my fault it broke in the first place. lol)

Ok, thanks everyone for the reply. I research a while and now I really tell that soldering the wiikey is easy...

Basically, we just Open the Wii, put the wiikey on the DVD Drive, making sure all the points been fluxed. Solder the 1-6 points to the pad on the Wiikey and use a electrical tape and that all. Is this all true? Also one more question, I'm sorry I asked too much easy question. How do I actually use the flux?

Most solder contains flux inside its core anyway.
Its job is to make the solder adhere better, making a cleaner, better connection.
[edit] Maybe you should video your installation as a warning.. err I mean guide to others.

Yes! Are you sure the wiikey is compatable with your wii.
The Wiiclip was made for you. I've soldered many PS2's back in the day and just didn't want the hassle and risk so I used a wiiclip. Works perfectly.NO SOLDERING required.
