I must be getting old. in the playstation days with my daughter and then playstaion 2 I had no problems and seem to beable to do it all with little to no help. Now I pickup on the wii and the more I read the less I think I know what I need to do. so much info out there!
I want to do a mod with the Wii-clip V4C Solderless Clip for D2Pro9 (9 wire). (I still have to open my wii to see chip set.)
my wii is only a few weeks old and the serial number points to
the D2Pro being my best bet for a mod. I will know as soon as I check chip set.
does anyone know about the Wii-clip V4C Solderless Clip for D2Pro9 (9 wire) . I will have the D2pro soldered to the Wii-clip V4C before it shipped to me. My wii has a 3 year replacemet warranty I want to keep from sodering to keep the warranty
Am I on the right track?
also I have read all the forms I can find. I read you can back up Virtual Console games to a sd card. I printed it out and I'm sure I did all it said, I can not copy mario to my SD card.
can Virtual Console games be back up to a sd as I read it can?
thank you

Your handle on the modchip seems to be pretty good. You have either a D2C or a D2C2 modchip, both of which can be handled by a D2Pro9. You're getting it pre-soldered and checking the chipset by opening it before ordering. It all sounds good.

As for backing up VC games to an SD card you shouldn't he having any trouble there so long as the SD card is supported. Just go to channels under the settings, select a channel and copy it to the SD card. Do be aware though that a channel copied from one wii cannot be used on another, it is keyed to only work with the wii it was purchased on. (There are of course ways around this, such as the wii homebrew channel and the twilight hack)

I would make sure your getting the D2Pro2 which is the 2nd version of the Modchip. This supports D2C and D2C2.

If you get the first version of D2Pro it will not be compatible if you have a D2C2 drive.

So make sure you get the D2Pro2 (Version 2) when ordering.

I thought that the 9 wire D2Pro supported the D2C2. Maybe I'm thinking of the infectus though.

Agreed larrylje, you should get the d2Pro9 rev. 2.0. All of the Retail Wii's sold now are sure to be DC2C chips. I just put one with the v4c wiiclip in my Wii that I bought 3 weeks ago and it works like a charm. They should be clearly labeled on the site you're buying from. Something like this:

D2PRO9 with WiiClip v4C Presoldered. 100% Solderless - works on D2A D2B and DMS (NO)

D2PRO9 rev 2.0 with WiiClip v4C Presoldered. - for D2C & D2C2 (YES, get this one)

Also be sure to download the 1.4 firmware iso from the d2Pro9 website to update the D2Pro9's firmware for SSBB and a few other game backups to work.

The D2Pro Rev2 has a on-board oscillator on it which is used for D2C2 drives. The D2Pro does not have the Oscillator so it does not work with D2C2 drives.

You are probably thinking of the ARGON which the first (9-wire)version works with D2C2 drives but the Infectus team is still planing on producing future ARGONS with an on-board oscillator. Those that have the 1st Gen 9-wire that do not have the on-board oscillator can order an add-on for it (At least that is the word from the Infectus team).
