D2PRO V4C problem (easy to fix?)

hello
I have a d2pro which came presoldered to a v4c wii clip
i have placed it correctly on my wii (dms drive)
now when i turn my wii on i get a red light from it
and when i place in a backup it does not flash blue or load.
Sometimes when i turn on it doesnt recognise originals
However by pressing down on the modchip when i turn on wii i get the red to blue flashes then whatever is in the drive loads
but then if i take it out i have to re press it down again to load another disc.
Please help if you no how to overcome this problem as i want my wii to be able to be closed up again
