Hi all,

I'm watching m2ts through TVersity on my PS3. All works fine except the m2ts files with DTS audio (I can see the video, but there is no sound).

I've read in this forum that DTS seems to be incompatible with m2ts. In the same forum they recommend to mux/demux (?) (sorry I'm a complete noob) the m2ts file using tsMuxerGUI (Output as "Blu-Ray disk"). But when doing so, the Output is another m2ts again, so I end where I started :-/

My question: is there any freeware to downgrade the DTS to AC3 (or whatever sound is compatible with m2ts)?

Thanks in advance!

Zel.

You'll need an application called eac3to, you will also need a GUI for it as well. EAC3toGUI works well and is noob friendly. EAC3toAndMoreGUI is a nice one but is a little more advanced.

Start with tsMuxeR, load the original m2ts file ith DTS audio. uncheck all streams except the DTS audio, select "Demux" radio button, then the Start Demux button. Now you'll have your m2ts file and a DTS file.

eac3to & eac3toGUI

Unzip the files from eac3toGUI and eac3to downloads, move the eac3to.exe file to the eac3toGUI folder.

Open eac3toGUI, go to Settings, eac3to.exe Location... eac3to.exe file.

Load your DTS file, set your bitrate to 640kb/s, set the Force Filter to Libav, Convert.

Using tsMuxeR load your original m2ts file, uncheck the DTS file, load your new AC3 file, select the "M2TS muxing" radio button, Start Muxing.

Now you have your movie with AC3 instead of DTS.

eac3to and eac3toGUI can be downloaded here, both are freeware.

Glad I can help, but seriously... I learned most of what I know from Ryu77, and this may sound silly, but the "Search" function.

I also look forward to helping others in the future.

thanks this worked great for me. however it did mean I had to reduce the bitrate of the audio (original was about 1.5Mbps) but it still sounded fine and it meant to film fit on a DVD5 instead of the DTS audio which would have been just too big and needed a DVD9.

It all boils down to the actual encoder/encode. I have had problems with downloads before, those are the ones that are usually encoded for PC playback, not necessarily m2ts/Blu-ray. Lately I've been ripping/encoding my own, I use Ryu77's BD profile in MeGUI, which produces movies that FF/RW flawlessly.

Best advice to help if you are not recoding using either Ryu77, SA-Blu-ray, or SA Blu-Ray-Fast profiles in MeGUI; When using tsMuxeR disable th option to "Continually insert SPS/PPS" and "Add Picture Timing Info". Make sure both if those options are unchecked.

Thanx for your help but after unchecking Continually insert SPS/PPS" and "Add Picture Timing Info, The ff and rw function still wont work.

Its only when i have to demux and convert the audio i get this problem as the orignal file is a mkv with dts audio.

I have downloaded a few mkv files that already have ac3 audio so i just had to use tsmuxer to convert the file to ts (These work fine with ff and rw no problems,
Its just when i have to convert the audio i get this problem :(

Then I suggest recoding the video to a more stable Blu-Ray compliant video stream so you can utilize the ability to FF/RW, keep DTS, and add subs by making a AVCHD disc. It's the only way I watch my movies now.

However, I'm running a quad core so my recodes only take 12-14 hrs, basically I run them just after dinner, and they're done by morning. There is the SA-Blu Ray Fast profile which only takes half the time, still a pretty good one.

Hi
I successfully followed the steps in your tutorial Odin and ended up with an m2ts file with AC3 audio. I then dropped the "s" at the end of the extension to make it play on my PS3. Unfortunately, I am only getting vision but no sound on my PS3, similar to the DTS version. The file plays ok with video and audio on my PC. Can anyone help with this problem, please?
