let me begin. i have a new slim psp w/ 3.90 ofw. I have managed to make the mms (i see it has various um programs under the games heading.) i managed,(and no i cant explain what happened, idk)'appear' to have destroyed the hard modded 2200mAh battery :| having said that ( :| sad yes lol) i have ordered the datel battery service tool. enough with the messing with the battery stuff for me.
when it arrives (soon) i need to know......
-the pandora battery will install cfw 3.90 m33 (geesh hope thats correct?? certain you know which one i mean anyway.) but.....it will do that.....correct?
-once that is done (assuming its correct) must i, install the 1.50 Kernel Addon for 3.90 v2?
- why? what does that ^^^^ do?
i have a few more questions, but.....this will do for now. one (ok 3 wee) thing(s) at a time lol.
i just wanted to mention also, i have looked at several site on the interweb...and this is by far..the best site i have seen (my search was specific.)
It should install 3.90 M33-3 if you made it correctly.
You can't install the 1.50 kernel addon, since you have a slim. But, 1.50 kernel is only for old, outdated homebrew. All new homebrew is in 3/4.XX kernel, which you don't need any add-ons for.
ok...so 'if' i made the mms correctly...it will install with the modded (via datel service tool) excellent. (we hope lol)
and, if i understood correctly...this 1.50 addon...is simply for old psp's and not necessary. that makes it even more simple. so i can skip that.
now...umm what is a 3/4.XX kernel?? and if i dont "need" to know.....lets not go there lol. just tell me to, .....skip it lol. if my 3.90 M33-3 cfw install, does all i need to (for now) good enough :)
if somewhere i misunderstand, (sorry to make you repeat yourself, simply dont understand all psp terms as yet. such as...3/4.XX) please correct me.
3/4.XX kernel is just the new kernel for custom firmwares 3.00 and above. It is the new standard, and all updated homebrew runs off of it.
And you are correct in your two statements. If you made it correctly, when your tool battery arrives it will install 3.90 M33-3, and the 1.50 kernel addon is unnecessary.
I only went to CFW fairly recently, and had similar questions about the 1.5 add-on. There just didn't seem to be much info around on the specifics of using it (i.e. getting into recovery mode etc).
For the more experienced homebrewers out there, am I right in thinking that when I want to run an app made for the 1.5 kernal, that I need to go into recovery mode and select 1.5 kernal under the "Game folder homebrew" option?
This is the way I've been doing it, but last night I realised that the apps all seemed to run okay with the option set to 4.xx kernal too. The apps I'm running are ScummVM, PSPVice, PicoDrive and Universal Remote. I'm sure a couple of them said they needed the 1.5 kernal.
Am I missing something here? Do I actually not need to change anything in recovery mode?
