- This is a Custom IOS, an IOS modified to add some new features
not available in the official IOS.
This IOS has been made to be used ONLY with homebrew software.
The Custom IOS installs as IOS249 and it does not modify any other
IOS so it is secure to install.
[ REQUISITES ]:
- "IOS37-64-v2070.wad" original WAD file.
[ HOW TO INSTALL IT ]:
- Copy "IOS37-64-v2070.wad" file to the root of a SD card.
- Insert the SD card on your Wii.
- Run the installer.

I have the genesis, nes, snes and gba emulators, plus a few of the homebrew games. Everything works beautifully except for the gba emulator, which is still an early beta release. It plays gba, gbc and gbroms just fine but lacks a decent user interface and still has stuttering issues on alot of games. Somewhat disappointing after everything else ran so perfectly, but hopefully there will be an update soon to fix these issues.
Thats all for the homebrewchannel, but I was asking about the custom ISO installation that allows you to run roms from the DVD drive, have you tried that ?
Things from the homebrewchannel can be run via the twilight hack or vice-versa. It just matters where you put the boot.elf file, and of course how you load it. Putting the boot.elf into the root directory of the SD card and running the twilight hack will boot it that way. Putting in in apps/genplus will let you boot it with the homebrew channel.
If you look at the video of what you were originally asking about, you'll see that they're loading the emulator via the the twilight hack and the only thing on the disk are the roms. So basically genplus is just a standard sega genesis emulator with the ability to load from a DVD as well as from the SD card.
As I thought we are talking about different things.
I am not talking about the homebrewchannel or the sega emulator specifically, I am talking about the fact that they have managed to install custom firmware allowing access to the DVD drive, it just so happens that only the sega emulator can utilise this currently.
Alright, I've been reading and it seems that what this does is it rewrites part of either the wii or the DVD drive firmware to allow the whole disk to be accessed by homebrew, something that would normally require a modchip.
So... if I understand properly this doesn't currently do anything that a modchip cant do, but it may be the first step towards a softmod that allows the play of backups.
