Hello, I recently decided to buy an XBOX 360 Arcade pack from the Big W store local to me, while they had the $278 special on. I took it to a local game store that mods/chips various consoles and also mods the XBOX 360. When I left it there to be flashed I got a phone call an hour later saying he "..wasn't able to flash the driver because it's a new "Lite-On" driver..". I did some research and I haven't heard much or anything about this Lite-On driver so I'm here to ask you guys if you know. The manufacturing date is 06/12/2008 and has the HMDI output available. If any other info is required don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks in advance.

As of now the new Philips LiteOn drives are unable to be modded. There should be a work around in the making. My question is how long ago did you buy the system. If it was recent try to see if you could take it back and get a Pro edition.

I got it yesterday, and tomorrow will make it 2 days. I got it from Big W and AFAIK you cannot return items unless they are faulty etc. Need clarification on that. How long do you think it would take for the Philips LiteOn Drivers to be modifiable? I can handle waiting a few weeks at most.

That's something I definitely did not want to hear :/ I can return the Xbox 360 Arcade but how will I know which store has an older model? I live in Melbourne by the way.

The new Lite-On drive will NEVER be flashable. There's just no way. MAYBE a mod-chip solution one day but never flashable. Take it back and look for the lot# on the back of the box. Lot# 816 and below are generally BENQ drives which are flashable.

Thanks for the info. I returned it back and got myself a premodded Xbox 360 already, it's fairly old but I don't really care, so long as I can finally play backed up games. I'll probably invest in the fan attachment, what do you guys think? Wait until I see RROD before I get one?

get a Talismoon Whisper fan (I got mine from llama.com) they work like a champ and are much quieter than the stock fan, and a cinch to install.

PS2Menace is right there will probably never be a flash for the Lite-On drives, but probably a way to get the key so you can replace the drive for a different one.

Yeah, but this will be a big pain in the butt. Since you cant get the Drive Key off of the new drive, you will have to get it off of the motherboard somehow and spoof it onto a new drive that is flashable. Sounds easy, but I have heard it's difficult getting it off of the motherboard. Strides are being made, and i'm sure someone will figure it out soon enough.
