I just want to know which hard drive i can use for a ps2, something that is cheaper then the ones that Sony provides. It does not have to fit or look good cosmetically as it will be used for a coin operated ps2. It will be hidden inside of the box. And ...best way or software to use to have games copied to the hard drive and have it work?

Well, HD Loader is a good utility to launch games, you can get its retail counterpart known as HDAdvance online. Or if you exploit the ps2 using the Independence exploit, you can get an .elf file of HDLoader 0.8c that runs on the memory card. However, coin operation could be bad with this method, as HD Loader doesn't like being the BOOT file, so ulaunchelf would have to run for at least a few seconds before booting HDL. With either of these utilities, you can install around 85% of games, and most hard drives are compatible. See this list for user-submitted testimonials of working drives.

I got a 80 GB drive off of Newegg for 40 bucks, and it holds around 20 games.

Please note that you will need a network adapter to get the hard drive to run.
