I recently removed the HDD from my xbox to preform a hot swap in order to fix the "xbox needs service screen". I was able to get the HDD back in with no problems, and the xbox itself works fine. However I cannot get the top casing to go back into the slots correctly. Therefore my xbox is in the floor with no top. Is there something about putting the top back on that I missed. I swear I'm not as stupid as this makes me sound. Thanks for any help you may have.
Yup there is.. on the hdd power cable there is a cable tie in a really bad place, right where you need the wire to go into the slot.. If it is under the hdd tray it holds it all up slightly which stops the lid going on properly... I cut it off. Then make sure everything is seated properly and it will be good ;)
I just keep my Xbox without a case. Keeps it cool, and as long you keep it dusted it should be fine. It also helps whenever you need switch out harddrives, you don't need to fondle with screwdrivers anymore.
I wouldn't care about the case, but it isn't my Xbox. Sorry if I said it was in my original post, I didn't mean to. I wanted to return it to him the way it was originally.
This is a bit off topic, but now that I've tried to test some games out on the Xbox to make sure it works correctly, I've noticed it does not. I downloaded the Halo 2 maps and tried to play a few games, and it is very laggy. Not necessarily internet or xbox live lag, but you can tell that it is the console. Also, it will only load about 4 maps, if you get any other maps than those in a matchmaking game it will kick you back out to the main menu. The maps that load are both on the disc and HDD, and the copy of Halo 2 is brand new with no scrathes, it also plays fine in all other xboxes. The xbox is not modded and was restored to factory condition. The disc drive seems to read most everything fine, and the HDD will read and write. The only issue under the dashboard is that things are a little slow, menus in games are slow at times also.
If you have any input on this it would be appreciated, if not, I will edit this post and post a new thread concerning this issue. Thanks for you help on the case issue, and any information you may have on this.
