Hey guys. I'm a first time poster.

I use to always play Surreal on my xbox and had a couple of roms installed and working. One day I turned it on and opened Surreal 64 and all the roms were gone. After I put on all the games I never FTP'd my xbox to anything, so nothing was configured through my computer to turn it off. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do? I really want to play my old nintendo 64 games again. I never configured the emulator in the first place, so I'm not too sure on what im doing...

Thanks.

First thing is to press the "Refresh" button while Surreal is loaded. That should re-load the ROM's.

If not, we will need to FTP to where you saved Surreal to. Then see open up your config file. Make sure Surreal is set to load the ROM'swhere they are saved.

If thats a no go. Try adding file extensions to the end of the ROM'S.
Quote:
Possible file extensions for N64 ROMs are: .n64, .v64, .z64, .rom, .bin, .jap, .usa, .pal and more. The extension is supposed to denote which hardware device was used to dump the ROM, and hence the byte order. However, people are lazy about using the correct extension, so there is no guarantee. A good ROM renaming utility will apply the correct extension for you. The only officially 'correct' file extensions are .v64 (for bytewapped ROMs) and .z64 (for non-byteswapped ROMs), so I recommend sticking to these, otherwise your emulator might not be able to load your game, you could get into trouble with ROM utilities, and so on.
As you see there N64 emulators read those file extensions. So you might wanna try putting those on the end of your ROM's to see if Surreal load them. I had this problem with a SNES emulator on the Xbox, and that fixed the problem.

Good luck!

Thanks for that, but I know all of that.
Today I downloaded and got a new update of Surreal 64 and modified the config file to where my roms are located, like the older Surreal. I tried yet again.. I put in new Roms, changed the config file, refreshed, checked if all the roms had the extension at the end and yet no Roms were found.
I'm not sure what to do anymore, I know Surreal has plenty of bugs and errors, but I really want to play these old school games. If anyone knows anything else please tell me. Everything will be appreciated.

Solution via instant messenger help.

We copied the roms, deleted surreal and used the sureal b5 in my emulator pack. From there we extracted the folder and threw the old roms in the roms folder and ftped it back to the xbox.

I think it was just a bad file or a bad directory lookup causing this error in the first place. Still the easiest solution is to update the emulator and place the roms in the correct directory.
