recieved an inside bit of advice from someone with knowledge of xbox live, and its banning system. while he didnt state exactly how, he did comment that with the redesign of the dashboard, a ban of modified consoles will again rear its ugly hydra head. from what i was able to understand from him, the systems have an error reporting system, and that system can be viewed and queried, so if there are set parameters you are looking for, you can access them in group search. much like the previous bans that happened to modified and unmodified systems, apparently the error reporting isnt without its issues, which led to false reports, leaving unmodded box's banned, when reports showed random errors that reflect the same errors that modded systems produce, which is also why they have abandoned the mass banning until this is rewritten, or whatever. blah blah, i know, no one cares, but from what I PERSONALLY took from my conversation, was that those with modded systems may be in the twilight days of xbox live...meh, all good things must come to an end...i no longer own a 360, but still figured, some people here may appreciate a heads up.

I remember when dinosaurs roamed the land
I remember when thinkin the earth is flat was cool...
but most of all...i remember when the Apple ruled the schools...GO NUMBER MUNCHERS!!!

Yeah, I think everyone with a modded 360 cried a bit when they saw the new dashboard. I've got two 360's so hopefully by avoiding playing online I'll dodge the bullet. If not my second 360 is a Benq, which will be modded if the first is banned. Then I guess I'd have to go pick up one of those new dastardly Lite-Ons.

with every dashboard update ( in the shadows of that update ) is some new check for modded systems. My offline system will not recieve this update since theres no need for it for offline...

I do love the banning tho.. if you have a modified system and you go on xbox live with it you deserve to get banned. Thats how the old halo hacks started... I have no problem with modified systems.. but we all pay good money to play on xbox live WITHOUT cheaters!!!

if ya want to cheat go play on your mommy's computer

I'll have to disagree with you "insane". There are plenty of reasons that people might have a "modified" console and still want to go on live. And that would include going on to play a game without cheating. Try to think of these situations before you post.

As for what was said before, yeah, all new dashboard updates possibly bring the ban hammer down on us, so we will just have to wait and see...

or you could route your xbox threw a computer in your network that way the ban trigger will not reach your xbox.

what about those games that come with updates on the disc

"if you dont update you will be signed out of live"

should we still do those when we are playing regular copies of games?

It seems to me that even when the newdashboard is released there is going to be a new Ixtreme firmware about a week behind. They will never stop the modding community!

can we just burn the new i extreme firmware to a disc or will we have to open our 360s again?

You will have to open the 360 and re-flash the drive with the new iXtreme.

I keep on reading about new ixtreme firmware being released but it seems to me that they just include a new feature. YOu never know microsoft could of made a small error when the made there new dashboard in a rush to show off at E3. They might be able to find an exploit in the new dashboard which could possible let us load the firmware from a disk.
