I'm still going to wait a week for some of the hype to die down. Glad to see it's doing good so far.

I believe these numbers once again prove that movie studios have the solution for piracy in their possession but hardly ever use it. Make a great movie and make sure that it is worth watching on a 50 feet screen and not a 50 inch LCD. Piracy problem solved?
So bloody true

went to it last night and it lived up to all the hype and then some! By far the best superhero movie ive ever seen, by far the best batman movie ever, and its also a top notch crime movie in my mind. If you haven't seen it yet what are you waiting for?!?! Looking forward to buying it on blu-ray in a few months :)

Couldn't agree more i though i would never see someone play Joker better than Jack Nick but Heath L took joker to another level.

I'll have to see it. I though Mr. Nicholson was incredible as the Joker. You're not the only person that has made that claim though.

I'll just have to see it and judge for myself.

I really want to see this movie now even while it's in theathers. I havent hone to a movie theather in about 2 years because its not worth it. Now a days movies look and sound better at home when you have the right equipment. and about that dead dude being the graeatest joker is probably crap people say that because he is dead. Come on guys the sucker died on an overdose of what ever drug he was using. What a moron...... I hate drug users my father is/was one (it changes from year to year)

It was a great movie, in fact I liked it so much I almost saw it again, 15 minutes after the midnight showing got out, at 03:15.

Heath did an awesome job and I will definitely buy the movie when it comes out.

As for "Piracy" well, the weapon to "kill" it is hard to load. Not many great movies come along like that often, however if they did piracy wouldn't be much of a problem in my opinion.

Peace

This is the best movie since Lord of the Rings, me and my friends liked it so much that we are going to watch it again at the imax. And after it is released on blu-ray I will buy it.

First, I would like to say I loved the movie, I thought it was amazing, and thought Heath Leger did some of the best acting I've ever seen. Plot, and acting wise, in my opinion, it was the best movie I've seen all year. Heath Leger may have died from a drug overdose, however I don't feel like that made his part over hyped. You can dislike Heath Leger, but it would be hard to deny that he did an amazing job as the joker in Dark Night. I felt like the drugs may have helped him play the part a little bit better. If you've seen the movie, he seems to be a little out there, and tend to make you wonder if he's acting. There are many famous people that have died drug related deaths, and I feel like they were more talented and unique than mainstream commercialized people. I'm not trying to start anything, but it seems hard to believe that you can judge somebodies acting ability (especially without seeing the movie), based on their bad choices.

Good stuff, but I really don't see what all the hype was. People were describing this as like Silence of the Lambs with Batman. They were saying it was really mature. It still has goofy out of place one liners and gag jokes. Ledger gives a great performance. And there are monologues.

I don't get where the "best xxxxxx ever" stuff is coming from. To me, its like Batman Begins but with a better bad guy. Still a great movie, but more of an A- than the S rating. Plus it drags. Theres always action or something going on, but often it feels like its going nowhere.

hmm yeah its a darn shame warner or any other studios dont work too hard to bring great movies..ive seen about 3 movies in the cinema in the last 2 years and 2 of them only as part of a date rather than going for the 50 feet screen experience..give me movies like hancock or men in black and ill consider paying 12$ & the cinema instead of waiting few months for the DVDRip

Relax guy, no need to go off on the deceased and no need to call him a moron. If you read your news, you would know he died of an accidental overdose, he mixed some pills that he shouldn't have and paid the ultimate price. It's easy to judge someone when you haven't walked in their shoes.

Yeah okay there dumbass, before you go on calling a great actor a sucker and a moron, I'd read up on my facts. Heath put up a great performance in the film and I don't think you can judge him without seeing the film yourself but I understand that may be a while since you like staying at home watching movies by yourself and not going out and enjoying them with their friends.. if you know what they are. Also, don't go around comparing Heath to your drug-abusing father, as ufcmoe said, he died of an accidental overdose on some pills. Next time don't make assumptions that people are praising his performance just because he is dead. Get out of your house and go watch the movie (wow 2 years..) otherwise don't make such a senseless post.

Wow, I thought I was being hard on him for that post. But I've read a few post similar to this, so I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought that way.

I think enough people have proven you wrong. Theres not really much to say, so I'll report you. I guess my reasoning should be bad language, and just acting like you want to start something for no apparent reason. *Reported*

I really enjoyed this movie, and agree that Heath Ledger's performance was extraordinary. Not many actors would have dedicated themselves into this role like Ledger did.
Awful shame about the accidental overdose.

embo22000 - a news item is no place to be irrelevant, or to bother people with your personal problems. Now let's have this thread back on track..
And bad-mouthing someone who's no longer with us ie deceased is pretty low. Again, let's not forget this is a news item.

Heath's performance was astounding. The character had sort of a charisma that you wanted to like, until his depravity was exposed. And it was a constant see-saw. Whenever you thought he was a normal person turned criminal, the twitch of his mouth, the licking of his lips, the random snarling brought you back to the reality of how psychotic the character was. He would talk in a mellow, soothing voice, but then instantly become this fierce, evil creature, and then snap back into mellow. And when he spoke in a mellow voice, I found myself wanting to believe what he was saying, regardless of how twisteed it was. I wanted to believe that something made him this way, but in the end, he came across as completely enigmatic and purely evil. The way he walked would make you feel sorry for the guy if you didn't know him, until you realized he was choking kittens with his bare hands underneath his trench coat (that didn't happen in the movie - just trying to describe how twisted he was). Heath brought all of these little details together into one consistent character throughout the entire movie.

I was reading about how Heath prepared for this role and it's pretty amazing. I was completely mesmerized by his portrayal and personally feel it is the best villian role I've ever seen on screen.

Bluray is a def purchase!

I am having a difficult time containing myself from seeing it with the SAME mentality. All IMAX flicks [here] were sold out on SUNDAY............can you believe that??? and frankly I just don't want crappy seats so I'm going to see it Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

You haven't even seen the film and you're judging Heaths performance? Get outta your house bud.. sad to know you're one of the few that won't be seeing the film for another 6+ months and I don't think you should watch the movie at all since you obviously have a problem with Heath. The reason I'm defending him is because I don't like idiots who make stupid posts not knowing what they're talking about. Just because no one will care when you pass or 'dissapear' doesn't mean you can bash someone as talented as he was.
