I'm sorry if this is a really n00b problem, but I've searched all over the internet and this forum and I haven't been able to find a problem like the one I have.

I had a Wiikey installed into my system by someone else yesterday. They told me to download the config 1.2 onto a disk, and so I did. I made sure I used the right region (PAL), and I had filechoped it into a 4gb or so large .iso file. I burned that image onto a DVD-r.

Then I got my Wii, ejected Wii sports from the drive, and then loaded my config disc.

I switched the TV on, and then I went right back to my Wii. But my Wii had the power completely switched off! No lights, nothing!

I double checked the power cord was properly plugged in and everything. No buttons on the Wii work, and the Wiimote can't turn it on, either.

I asked the guys who installed my Wiikey and they said the config disc should not have bricked it. But looking at it, it seems like it has! Please, if anyone knows how to fix this, help. >_<

You need to be a little more clear about what happened. This is why:

"Then I got my Wii, ejected Wii sports from the drive, and then loaded my config disc."

Ok so you ejected your disc and inserted the config disk. No issues there.

"I switched the TV on, and then I went right back to my Wii. But my Wii had the power completely switched off! No lights, nothing!"

But you said that you ejected the wii sports disk and inserted the config disk.. If you had a loss of power, you would've had to literally FORCE the disk in.

Be a little more specific about your situation before asking for help. I know I dont have any posts here but theres no way I can help you unless you tell us exactly what occured.

I think what he is saying is that he inserted the config disk, then he turned on the TV and then by the time he looked back at his wii it had died. So in between inserting the disc and turning the TV on it lost all power.

I would have to say that sounds more like a hardware failure of some kind. A bricking situation would usually still mean the wii had power, it just wouldn't boot up. Though it would seem a bit coincidental if happened like you say.

Get the person who installed your chip to have a look and make sure they haven't screwed something up.

Sorry if I wasn't very clear on my first post. @_@ I really tried to make it as detailed as I could.

But it was exactly as Ggbarnum described it. I brought it back to the guy who fixed it, and they said it was fuse that was broken and "completely unrelated to the Wiikey." I'm a bit skeptical on that, considering that I had only turned it on for like a minute before it died.

The good news is, they fixed it. Still, I don't know how it happened, and I'm scared that it'll happen again. >_>

A couple of things to check:

You can do a reset of the power supply its possible that something didn't get grounded correctly when the system was put back together and once it started up it popped the fuse.SO:

1. First things first. We'll start from the beginning. Unplug the AC Adapter from the wall and from the Wii. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Then plug it back in. 9 times out of 10 your power supply needs to be reset. The only way to reset it is to unplug it from the wall and the wii and let it sit for 15 min. Try this first and report back if it worked. Even if you think you have done this already do it again.

2. If above doesn't work take a flathead precision screw driver and remove the lithium battery from the bottom of the unit. Wait 10 minutes and put back in and secure witht he same screw. Try powering up your system.

3.Here's a basic guide to opening the Wii's PSU. Be warned that power supplies are very dangerous to work with. I would never think to service anything other than the fuse on one.

First step is to unplug the power supply. Hopefully this is obvious, but it's possible to forget.

The PSU uses proprietary screws, which I did not have a screwdriver for, so I used a dremel to cut a slit into the screw and used a flathead screwdriver to remove it.

Just remove the two screws and then you can pry the two halves apart. I did this by inserting a sturdy screwdriver into the hole as leverage and then prying with a flathead.

The PCB also lifts right out. It is not attached in any way.

The fuse is 2.5A 250V. You can check if it is damaged with a multimeter. It has two pins coming from it which you can access underneath the PCB. Set your meter to measure Ohms and put one prong on each pin. If it measures 0 Ohms, the fuse is still in tact. If not, it will need to be replaced. To replace it, simply desolder both pins and replace it with another fuse with the same rating. If this doesn't work read below.

If none of this works read below:

You may be forced to just purchase another power supply. BUT before you hook anything up I REALLY recommend you going to the person who installed your chip and have them take it apart and look around t to make sure nothing is shorting the system out and everything is properly grounded. I've done hundreds of chips for people here in the ATL area and I've got a 100% success rate, never had a customer call me back with problems. That ship should have some electrical tape protecting it on both sides of the ship from grounding out on any of the metal inside the box. If there isn't any I'd put some in it just to feel safe and cozy, it won't hurt anything and some may say its over kill but it'll save you some headaches down the road I promise.

Hope this helps some.

you posted one minute before I did. Glad it worked out for you. I was pretty sure it was the power supply. What can occur with everyone is if something isn't properly grounded, lose wires loose chips, etc it can cause power flux and theres a small fuse in the power supply that'll pop to protect the wii from to much power. This happens alot with brownouts(when your lights dim out a little then brighten again). But truly happy you got our system back up and running :)
