Maybe someone could help. My nephews Wii wont eject game. He explained that he was playing Dragon Ball Z it froze and he pressed eject button. He turned the Wii back on and it wont eject game nor would it read the game that is stuck in the Wii. His Wii has a WiiKey which was installed 4-5 months ago. So I don't think its the WiiKey. I read somewhere when a game freezes in the Wii its not a good idea to press eject not sure if that is true. HE has removed the power brick then plugged it in pressed eject for 10 seconds but no luck. Also laid the Wii on its side and pressed eject and nothing. Any ideas?

This happend to me once. I fixed by inserting another game part way then hit eject. Just play around with it like that, What it does is activate that motor and then you pull the disc out and hit eject. hope this helped!

I will try it. I read this solution on another forum. Unfortunately the Wii is at my nephews house. I thought I would be able to stop by today and try fixing it but its gonna have to wait till tomorrow.

Tried the "insert another disc trick" and nothing. The second disc wouldn't even go in much. The drive glows blue when I press eject. Can the Wiikey malfunctioning cause the drive to lock up and also the game that is stuck in there also is not recognized by the Wii when it was right before it locked up.

Sounds like a good old fashioned hardware failure.

Should I open it and and work on it myself?

That depends on what level of expertise you have and what is wrong with it. Could be something obvious when you get in there or not, hard to say.

You could certainly try and see, then if no luck, try a professional somewhere.

Hi
I had the same problem when reassembling my WII. It turned out that the front had to be connected tightly (all screws in place) in order for ejections to work. If re-assembly is done correctly, the ejections should work fine

Well I have the know how to open and reassemble things. I did not mod it myself because soldering is not something I excel in. I will have the gentleman who modded it take a look first. If he can fix it then I will allow him to. I am also hesitant about opening it because its my nephews and he is pretty much addicted to his Wii(weekends only and only after chores and homework are done)and I don't want anything to go wrong. Also I am pretty sure the guy who modded it mentioned that if something goes wrong he would take a look at it for me and fix it if he could.

That's probably the best way to go. As far as I can remember, you'll need a tri-wing and a number of different sized screw driver heads to go at it.
There wouldn't be any soldering involved if your son has a wiikey though so a bit of due care would be all that'd be involved.

I had a problem alot like yours....I bought a used Wii from Ejunk and it wouldn't eject the disk unless I pressed the button twice. After I installed a WiiKey everything works fine even better than before.

Kinda sounds like a hardware failure. I would have your installer check the fusable links on the drive. There are two of them near the white power connector. I have found this to be the most common of all drive failures.
