I've been reading soo much into this and my head is literally about to explode, im a big n00b in need of loob.
after soldering etc, ive filechopped Firmware1.9s.iso, Config1.9s.iso and config.1.3.iso
Burn on verbatim dvdrs at 4x
Config 1.3 goes first
then firmware 1.9s and then config?
do i really need 1.9g or can i straight upgrade to 1.9s

First of all, since you didn't say so, the assumption is that you've Installed a Wiikey. If you installed some other modchip you should stop and do more research.
I would suggest that before you do anything else, verify that your Wiikey is operational. That way this doesn't turn into another "upgrading to x.y bricked my Wii" threads
I am happily running 1.9g and have not yet found a backup that won't run.
Since you are new to this I would suggest that after you have verified your mod is operational, upgrade to 1.9g, test agaion, then upgrade to 1.9s if you feel that you have to. The Only way you will be able to verify that 1.9s is working will be to try to run an original SSBB disc.

Well, first off, the config disk ALWAYS comes AFTER the firmware disk. Think about it: if the config disk configures the firmware, then the firmware obviously needs to be installed first, right?
Anyway, like dailun I'm still on 1.9g and all backups work. The only thing 1.9s adds is the ability to play original copies of SSBB, and I don't play my original copies anyway, just keep them stored safely away. Basically what I'm saying is that if you're able to play all your games then there's not much reason to go through the hassle of upgrading to 1.9s

what im asking is
lets say i buy a wii, solder wii key
and back ups seem to work, everythings fine
do i have to upgrade to 1.9b then 1.9g then 1.9s
or can i just upgrade to 1.9S from the start (and if i upgrade to 1.9s without doing b and g, will it be missing some stuff or is 1.9s everything + SSBB support)
final question:
1.9s firmware + 1.9s config file
when do i put Config 1.3 in? is that a first for a newly modded wii
thanks

(filechopped both)

You don't need to update them in order, going straight from 1.9b to 1.9s is fine.
The wiikey comes with firmware already installed on it, so actually you can just install the wiikey, put the console back together and start playing games without upgrading or configuring anything. That's what I did.
If the wiikey still ships with the old 1.9b firmware though then you'll have to upgrade to 1.9g or 1.9s. Now this is the part that trips alot of newbies up: the config disks ARE ENTIRELY OPTIONAL AT THIS POINT. The modchip will play backups fine without the config disk. The only need for a config disk is to turn region override on as it's default setting is off.
And forget about config disk 1.3 as it is old. It is used for firmware versions 1.3 - 1.9g. If you're upgrading to 1.9s then use the 1.9s config disk.

wow i cannot express my gratitude towards your help penguin! *sounds like a comment youd make when your high?*
So in summary can you please just say if this is fine to do
1) Reassemble Wii
all i need really is 2 DVD-Rs filechopped
1.9S Firmware and 1.9S Config,
put firmware first to update then config to turn ovveride on (what is it anyway?),
then play all night long?
is it not neccassary to update to 1.9g then 1.9s as i am just curious if 1.9s has everything 1.9g has + SSB Support
thanks

"Has everything?" All that was added to g from b was the ability to bypass the disk check built into most newer games (the 001 error). Besides, upgrading the wiikey completely removes the old firmware and installs the new one. It's not an add-on kind of process.
And region override is the ability to play games from a different region. Playing Japanese or European games on a US wii for example. I would HIGHLY suggest reading up on bricking before turning region override on, as running an update from a game from a different region as your wii will cause serious problems.

Obviously if you are not playing games from out of your region, you don't need to turn on region over ride !!

I think at this stage, don't download the filechopped versions of the config disks. DL the complete 4.3 gig versions. Filechopping for newbs is something alot don't grasp, also if you try to use a filechopped disk in the system that you didn't pad before burning it'll shorten the life of your laser and obviously issues with reading the disk will be possible. Also I wouldnt mess with systems that are out of your region until you're familiar with how the backup system works. This will keep you from having wii seperation anxiety because you bricked it.
