With the ps3 still unable to be hacked, are you guys worried that the next gen Microsoft console won't be able to be flashed or modded? Backups will be history....

I'm sure hacks will come out for it,but it won't be anytime soon for both consoles.

I fail to see how a secure console is something to complain about. "Boo hoo I can't download games". Honestly, I hope the PS3 doesn't get hacked. Piracy is killing a lot of developers. It's already put a lot of good PC devs out of business. I'll miss my backups, but as long as the next gen consoles don't scratch my discs I'll have no need.

Actually I do have problems with the security the PS3 system has such as the FAT system on the harddrive. It would be nice to store videos over 4GB to the harddrive,so yes I would like to see hacks come out for the system.Piracy isn't killing developers not sure where your getting that, but it doesn't help either. To be honest I don't care about backups, but would rather have better feature support added to the consoles without having to wait for the console industries to implement them.Hacking the consoles isn't specifically made for piracy, but most of the hacks do lead to piracy. For instance with the Xbox 360 reading/dumping the firmware from the drives can save consoles not sure if anyone has thought about this, but also leads to firmware hacks.Lets say you have an XBox 360 and the drive is about to die on you if you can dump the drive key(which all Xbox 360 need in order to replace the drive)then you can change that drive out instead of losing the console.I don't like Microsoft support and will never use it,as they don't give a damn about the customer sorry for the language but its true.

in my opinion 60$ a game and over a million copys sold is not killing a dev. maybe the smaller guys but not the big titles. if they dropped their price i would be willing to buy a second copy of my retail game and not mod my console just to play a backup.

Your saying you stored an 8GB movie on your PS3 without using linux, but off the hypervisor instead. If this is true then let me know, because I always thought you had to use linux to store more than 4GB of data on the PS3.If not then no they haven't fixed the PS3 to hold more than 4GB of data on it,unless you use linux which creates a partition that is different than the hypervisor. If you think about it linux is the only way it can be done, but what I'm referring to is the hypervisor of the PS3 not linux.

everything may be able to be hacked, but if 360 goes blu ray on next gen, then its not even economical to buy blank blu ray discs etc, same prob with ps3.

how would it not be economical? a blue ray disc costs like 20 bucks if you buy them in the single pack, around my place, and the game would still cost around 60 bucks, so you would be saving 40 bucks.

$20 a blanks is not economical yet. Let's say you have a bad burn which is always at least a slight possibility. Now that game went from $20 to $40 like that. I think very few would want to deal with $20 coasters.

As far as the next gen who knows? Sony and MS both came with a lot security this gen over last gen. It'll should be even more next gen. You probably won't be able to sneeze near your console without them knowing. Sony doesn't have to worry about their Blu-ray drive getting hacked soon, because it's brand new technology and they probably picked a few things from 360's DVD drive being hacked.

$20 Coaster ha I get pissed with my $2 Coasters. The 360 is doing fine the way it is. Would blue ray be nice? Yes is would. Does the 360 need blue ray? Hell no they have been doing just fine without. I mean look at the ps3 it had blue ray from the get go and I still have yet to see a game use it to the fullest or hell even come close to being fun. Not counting MGS4 tho ha. Every system has that one game =p
