This week we @ E3 we saw FFXIII go multiplatform and will now be available on the 360. We have also seen a few games that were suppose to be PS3 exclusive like Devil May Cry 4, GTA4, Ace Combat 6 go multiplatform and Ace Combat become a 360 exlusive. Now Tekken's exclusivity is up in the air http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/07/22/tekk...tion/#comments.
With next gen upgrades comes next gen development cost. Cost was a big factor to FFXIII going multiplatform. Sony has also gone on record stating that they will not shell out money for the sake of having exclusive titles and would rather develop in-house exclusive titles.
Do you think Sony's stance towards exclusivity hurt them? Should they do more to keep games like Tekken, and FF series exclusive to the PS brand?
Do you all think that we are seeing the end of third party exclusivity?

i see 3rd party exclusives disappearing especially for ps3

but while some developers a making games exclusively on the xbox, when it comes to multiplatform games developers will lost as the 1st party exclusives will look far better then any multiplatform game because they would know how to fully use the ps3 hardware.... as for tekken 6 if we lose that it wont be as bad an impact as when we lost ffXIII

I dont think its that big of a deal... It wont necessary doom the PS3 just dent its sale numbers a little for now. Sony probably doesnt care much for its exclusives being on the 360 anymore....I think they are looking at the bigger picture.

Yes ppl will rather go buy FFXIII or Tekken for the 360 instead of getting a PS3...its common sense, assuming they already own a 360. So it would make sense for Sony to try really hard to hold on to their exclusives so ppl will buy the PS3 more...but they wont.

They know that they already own the movie industry by beating out HD DVD so they could care less about exclusive games ( that is why they wont ever pay to keep an exclusive) Because they have the best exclusive of all... Blueray.

The price drop on the PS3 is enough to compete with the 360...they dont need exclusives. Yea ppl can go get the game on the 360 cheaper then buying a PS3 but if they dont own a 360 then why not get a PS3 for around the same price plus you get a Blueray player as well. Killing two birds with one stone for the same price as the competitors.

So it doesnt matter might as well make all PS3 games on the 360 Sony wont be hurting at all in the long run when Blueray finally explodes in the market.

PS3...it only does everything(that Sony allows it to)

If people think outside the box, look at the FFXIII as a comparison. Let's say one person has a PS3 and a 360. You know why they would they would get it for the 360? Because they would just pirate it. You know how the game companies make money? Microsoft pays the companies for their losses aka. bribing.

Believe it or not most people don't pirate 360 games or games for any other system even PSP despite that probably being the most pirated. Just look software sales. Multi-plats always sell better on 360 despite it being hacked.

If loosing these few exclusives is hurting Sony then the 360 loosing exclusives on Oblivion, Blazing Angels, Lost Planet, Saints Row, Eternal Sonata, Prey, Condemned, Overlord, Far Cry, Sacred and Bioshock must have put the 360 out of business.

TEKKEN ON XBOX??????????? This is crap. Tekken has been Playstation exclusive since the beginning. As a Tekken fan this is an outrage! I know this may be kind of a harsh statement, but if Tekken goes multi platform then I may be jumping on the 360 bandwagon.

i know exactly how u feel tekken 2 was my first ever video game and i bought most the tekken games
and would hate for it to go to the xbox, but if it did the last thing id do is get it for xbox because the xbox controller alone would just kill the gameplay of the game

Don't jump too hard on the 360 bandwagon... you know how easily MSs stuff breaks :)

But seriously, it seems like developers are almost forced to go multi platform. With development costs running in the 10s of millions, they have to open up to the market as much as possible.

And while it may make a dent in Sonys attach rate, it won't kill them. They're in it for the long haul. With the PS2 going on 9+ years, I tend to believe them when they say they have a 10 year plan for the PS3.

Now... give me some online multiplayer reviews for Killzone 2 and M.A.G.

I downloaded the demo for Ace Combat 6 for the 360 and I did feel a little dirty playing it on the 360 since I've played the entire series on the Playstation. If Tekken does in fact goes multiplatform I will be getting it for the PS3 since it's suppose to be optimized for the PS3.
I must say that seeing games that has been with the Sony since PS1 going to the 360 feels like being cheated on in a relationship :(

Sorry, but I'm starting to get a little pissed off with Sony.I mean what the hell are they doing even if they do own the movie market right now. They really shouldn't sell out for one it makes them look bad,and the other reason is why. They can't be hurting on profits since they are a huge corporation.I do agree with the statement bhetrick said

The Xbox 360 is a system that isn't very reliable even if they have the best game selection. The 3RRoD has been going on for years now with no fix available from Microsoft except a refurbished system or partial fixes like the X-Clamp replacement.Sony's PS3 developers are really lazy when it comes to producing games, and even if its harder to develop on the PS3 that still doesn't give an excuse to delay releases for years on a game. The PS3 system is built better than the XBox 360,but lacks in games and has for the longest time.I mentioned this before on here somewhere, but its easier for game developers to program for the XBox 360 and get the same amount of money that is the reason games are becoming multi-platform.The PS3 is a beast in reality, but we haven't seen it yet because its still too complicated for developers.I see comparisons done all the time between the PS3 and the XBox 360,but they fail to mention that the PS3 isn't running at max like the XBox 360.Its true though the PS3 hasn't been unleashed yet at its full potential, and we probably won't see it for a couple years from now.I think Sony made the best console, but its lacking games and needs some exclusives.I think the Nintendo Wii has been doing the best in the market, but I wouldn't call it next gen.

I dont feel cheated, it's all about business, NO emotions.
Sony cant force anyone to stay exclusive, or pay them.
If they do the maths and see that it will cost them more to keep it exclusive than the damage, thrn they just let it go.Simple.
Let MS pay devs cause they couldent secure the content.

I dont care anyway In 1-2 years at the most 360 will start lacking in games.
360 will not be able play them, it lacks in everything compared to PS3, dont forget that 360 wasnt designed to have HDMI at first place and as L-Burna said, 360 is already working at 100%.
What do you think that is causing RROD? overheat cause it works to the limit.
Features like Home, PlayTV, streaming movies and all that will boost PS3 a lot and if PS3 manage to outsell 360 globally this christmas 360 will be the last x-box that we will ever see.
PS2 was a great hit to MS, i dont think that they can handle a 2nd hit like that.

About PS3 not having games Vs 360, for people like me that i play games more than 20years and i have never liked FPS, 360 has nothing that PS3 dont, actually it even lacks to the same games,
cause that awful controller and the absent of the motion sensor.

I bought my PS3 strictly because of Tekken 6 so if it comes multiplatform i'll surely be "upset", though it wouldn't really matter cause i'll be buying al multiplatform games for ps3 just beacause its a more reliable console :P, if the 360 didn't have such crappy hardware THEN i'd be worried for the ps3, but as long as this continues I would assume more people will change to a PS3, thats my opinion anyways

Though it definitely would be nice to have mor exclusives, Final Fantasy XIII... what is this world coming to P_P

I wouldent say so. PS3 is closing the gap faster that they most though.
and after this holidays that PS3 will be in a totaly new league than 360 with all the new features and Price cut PS3 will outsell it.

From the other side MS doesn't have any other choice, multiplatform games is their last hope, cause their hardware is way inferior than PS3 in any level, they offer way less than PS3 On-line and of-line, and they have a great failure rate, so what is left?
Pay devs to go multiplatform, their last hope to save the boat from sinking.

Its always nice to have a couple of exclusives, but really cant see the problem with games coming out on both consoles. With piracy being rife it is only understandable that software companies will want to maximise profit and to do that you need to release games across all platforms.

PS3 users have nothing to worry about as the release of HOME will have consumers flocking to the PS3 as nothing like that will ever come out on the Xbox360.
