Hey Guys I have a xbox 360 flashes with iExtreme(I beleive its the latest one),A Benq drive, and backups on both memorex and Verbatims. My issue is with certain games it freezes while others it doesnt. Games like halo3,bad company, and GTA4 freeze on me at different points while games like COD4,prizefighter,and bioshock haven't. This is for both the regular games and their backups. I have another 360 thats not modded and the regualr games all work fine.

I have tried everything from clearing the cache on my HD,Keeping it cool and well ventilated, tried it playing horizontal and vertical, tried different power bricks, tried it w/out the HD completely,Kept a fan blowing at the box,and i'm still getting these freezing issues.

Anyone have any Ideas? Please let me know as I am growing frustrated with this by the minute. Thanks everyone...

damn.....What do you recommend I do.I bought the unit modded and am still in touch with the seller. He said that the read speed was turned down to medium to make it more quieter.he said that he could reflash it and set the read speed to normal 12x i guess.

Do you think that this will resolve my issue.
Do you think it has anything to do with the games or is it my actual xbox with the problem.

you could try that, and you could try changing your burn speed. it could be the drive itself. not the 3 rings.

The fact that you said you have some Memorex games and it's not flashed to 12x is more than likely your problem. I bet the memorex discs weakened the laser... and yes, it can happen that fast.

I'd try..

1. Throwing away all Memorex dvd+r dl discs & use Verbatim ONLY
2. Re-flash to 12x

If those don't help, you can tweak your laser..google *pot adjustment*
Or buy a new BENQ laser.

your right the memosux could've ruined the laser. but the discs themselvs are not why it wont read them. cause his retails arnt working as well. so it might/might not be the memosux. anyways just try what we said to do before you go any further.

btw mine has been at 8x for about a year and never had a problem yet with it.

Thanks I will have him re-flash and set to 12x.

He was also saying something about my power brick, because it is the one thats 203Watts. That there is another one that is lower 170W or so, that it may be a cause as well. I live in California, so I shouldn't I need a speacial type of power brick right?

Do you guys think that this might be a cause as well?

***UPDATE***

Well if anyone wanted to know, I had my friend re-flash and set to 12x, and still freezing. I tried my xbox on a 175 watt power brick and same issues(actually froze faster).

My friend also said that when he was re-flashing, he got an error code(I forget what kind), he then said he believes its a faulty console and not the flash or any of my games(Also tried his backups and still froze).

Verdict: Getting it swapped for another modded 360 this weekend.

Jus wanted to put closure on this post and to see if anyone had issues like mine, which he said was really weird considering it was a new 360.

Thanks for you guys' help.
PEACE,,,,,,,,............

I have the same problem with GTA4, I have an elite, had a guy over at xbox scene remove the tsop and flash it with 1.4.

I use memorex dl dics, all games work great, but GTA4 hangs at
random points in the game. Also strange, the orinal game disc
also hangs. Disc looks clean, no scuffs/scratches. I took the game
back to Target to get a replacement, same thing. I tried cleaning
the dvd drive, same issue, but only with GTA4.

Haven't checked lately if there's a dashboard update.

I have been playing GTA4 on my new modded console I just got but haven't had any issues with it. For sure on my older, freezing console, but not on the newer one. And my GTA4 is on a memorex DL.
Haven't tried the Hulk game yet, ill get it today and post if it gives me issues.

I've recently updated Ixtreme to V1.4 and slowed the speed from I think it was 12 speed down to 5 speed to reduce the noise, I'll try the game again later myself and see what happens. The game my son originally played was the original, I've now backed it up so I'l see what it does.
