hi all..

need some kind helps here.. i suspect i may have 'semi-bricked' my 3.3U wii by running a PAL version of mario kart.. (but i didn't see any prompt of firmware update..) so now i can't run any other ntsc backup discs on my wii.. but the wii console still can play all my ntsc original game discs and the wii settings (version still showing 3.3U) and wifi are still functional.. (it is strange to me that the wii still can play a backup PAL disc of Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 but not the mario cart PAL.. the mario cart will give a blank screen later..)

i did try to use Homebrew NTSC (v289) fix but unfortunately it is not working.. (is it because my verision is 3.3U?)

i am wondering does it help if i go and buy an original NTSC mario-kart.. will it help to reinstate back the firmware?

please help... thanks a lots.

thanks,
sam

Why would think you have semi bricked your wii ?

You didn't update as far as you know, it still plays original and some backup disks and you can access the system settings menu so you have not semi bricked it.

hi..

actually i am not sure too.. just suspecting..
coz i find it strange that even when i inserted the ntsc freeloader.. an error message was prompted which i didn't encountered before.. and there are other cases like NTSC backup discs no longer works, homebrew ntsc fix also not working...etc

am still puzzled :(

thanks,
sam

i am using d2pro v2 with wii-clip4c.. think original the firmware is v1.3.. after the incident of 'suspecting brick'.. i tried to download the latest firmware v1.5 from d2pro website.. the update is successful.. so now my firmware is v1.5..

thanks,
sam

Sounds like you have game disc that have been Trucha signed and the 3.3U update is blocking them from working. This is the case for freeloader as well.

Nothing strange about it. it is copy protection that Nintendo has implemented to block certain exploits (Trucha Signed) game disc from working.

Either download and get fresh copies of the game disc that have not been Trucha signed. Or Install and boot the Trucha Signed disc via Gecko OS (Do a search for Gecko OS and how to install it via Homebrew).
