Hi, I'm a newer user to the wiikey, and I'm having a problem with some of my backups. I have made plenty of backups for my wii, and most play perfectly, although the odd one I get a problem. The wii menu screen comes up, with the game it the top left window, and when I click on it.. then hit start, I get a black screen right afterwards, and it freezes there. My wiimote lights turn off, and all is frozen. I have to unplug the power from my wii to get it to restart. I have a wiikey with the 1.9s update us. and my wii is canadian. Mariokart, and Mario Galaxy both work, but it seems like some older games don't work as world championship poker, and Puzzle quest. Do I have to do older wiikey updates as well or something?? please help.. thanks

What Wii firmware do you have? if you have updated to 3.3U and the older games have been Trucha Signed then they can be blocked from working.

I have no idea what firmware I have. I don't know how to check it or change it. How would I go about that, and fixing the problem? I did do an update with mario kart. Not sure what that does though. I just read on a forum once that it was alright to do.

Go to Wii in lower left hand corner. Then to System Settings and the version will be in the top right hand corner.

Try reburning the older games.

I just reburnt it, I have 2 copies of it sitting next to me now, both doing the same. I don't think it's an issue with the burning, each game that acted up like that I burnt it a couple times always getting the same result. Am I missing something? I don't really know much about the brickblockers or anything else about burning game backups. I use K3B to burn the games as I am using Linux, and like I said.. Most work perfectly. I'm just really stumped. I read in another forum that somebody else was running into an update issue causing the same problem, but I don't think it was ever resolved.

As I mentioned before, I am pretty new to nintendo wii in general, so I really don't know what a brickblocker is, or for.... and I certainly have no idea what trunca sign is. I have never even heard of that. Could you please give me a quick little explanation? Thanks so much for the help thus far though :)

There is lots of information about both of these things all over these forums, someone could tell you what they are but that wouldn't teach you how to use them.

Try searching for the information and educating yourself and you will be able to resolve your problems.
