8gb memory stick has turned into a 4gb!! wtf?

Ok so I've searched around in the forum and determined that my memory stick is fake. It worked fine for a day but now when I use the usb connection and look at it with my pc, it shows as 4 gb used, 4 gb free, even though I just formatted it. No matter how many times I format with the psp, I cant get more than 4 gb free. Any idea how this happened and/or how to fix it? Is this just par for the course with the fake memory sticks (i.e. working one day, half the capacity the next)?

yeah its a fake format it with your pc

when you connect it go to my computer and right click on memory card and click format and format to fat32 i think its the best formatting for fakes i have a fake 4gb and it sped up transfer's a lot
i have vista if you have xp find out how to format it to fat 32

I was able to format the memory stick using my laptop with the psp connected to it. I dont know why it didnt work before, perhaps user error or impatience. But I still dont know why the problem first occured.

Exactly and sometimes, u have to rename some files to be able to delete them. Because the computer won't let you delete them. I usually turn my files into .jpg files....put them on my PHOTO/PICTURE folder and delete them from the XMB as if they were pictures....;)
