Ok I softmodded my xbox a while ago and it has been working perfectly for me...There's just one thing I can't figure out, whenever I play a game that allows you to play your own soundtrack (music ripped to your xbox) my music doesn't show up, therefore I cannot play it on the games. My question is, is there a specific folder in the xbox the the music needs to be in and is there a specific name for it so the xbox knows it's there? My ripped music plays fine in the dashboard...

Yeah your xbox is looking for music that was ripped with the msdash. It would direct to the E:/udata directory (I think the FFF000000 folder, same one with st.db). The game is looking for that ripped music.

So you have a couple options, you can either rip the music to the xbox using the msdash or you can copy your music and paste it in the music folder in the game. I remember i did it with forza so it really can't be that difficult.

Well Forza is actually the game I want to do this with, thing is I don't have it on my hdd and don't have room for it, so I assume I will have to use the msdash to rip the music...But how do I get into the ms dash? Thanks for your help!

First of all what dash are you using? You should be able to access the ms dash from any modded dashboard from the main menu.

If you can't find it load the file manager and look in the C partition. You're lookin for something like MSDASH.XBE or XBOXDASH.XBE. Just select it with your file manager and press a to load it.

If you can't find your file manager i've uploaded boxplorer for you. Just ftp this to your xbox in the apps section and run it on the xbox. Press start to select your partition and press a to execute the xbox executable file.

Boxplorer - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7PET9RV5

It's about that simple.

I'm running the evox xbmc, Whenever I try to open up the ms dash I get an error 21... However I did find a program called xbox soundtrack manager that converts mp3's into .wav and creates a soundtrack on the xbox as if you ripped a cd to it...

So I have a way of doing it now, which makes me very happy, but do you know why I get an error 21 whenever I try to boot the ms dash?

msdash.xbe is probably linking to files that don't exist on your xbox. My cheater drive has a working ms dash so if you want you can sift through the files and find the ones that work. My cheater drive is in my signature.

Try throwing these files on C: but don't overwrite anything, i'm pretty sure these are the files you need.

- Audio......................Folder
- f0nts......................Folder
- xboxdashdata.185ead00......Folder
- xodash.....................Folder
- msdash.xbe.................File
- xbox.xtf...................File

That should be it. Load msdash.xbe and see if it works

The only file that wasn't already there was xboxdashdata.185ead00, i still get error 21 when I hit msdash.xbe and when I go to xboxdash.xbe it just freezes up on a black screen...Should I try throwing in the all of the files in your cheater drive without replacing any of the ones already on my xbox?

eh it could be the msdash.xbe file itself. I guess just backup your C: and copy and replace all the files i said. It shouldn't cause any harm. So even if it asks to overwrite the files say yes. That should give you a working msdash.

If it doesn't work you can always replace your C files.
