Problem With Playsation Internet

I've been having a problem with the internet on my Playstation 3. This occurs both when I hardwire directly to my modem and when I use a router (both hardwire to rauter and wireless). I use the internet or Playstation network (which I constantly lose connection to) and then suddenly I will not be able to access the internet at all. The only way to fix this problem is for me to reset my modem. I think it's a PS3 issue because when I just have my PC connected to the internet, everything is fine. But when I connect the PS3, that's when problems happen. Any ideas on what's wrong and how to fix it?

I'm not so sure about that being exclusively a problem with your PS3. What NAT type is it in your playstation network settings?

I have NAT type 2 on my PS3. I just tested for an internet connection and succeeded, then got an error 80130128. I tried to do another internet connection test and a message came up stating ethernet cable not connected when it was.

I've tried both wired and wireless from my router. Do I need to do that whole static IP address for my PS3? If so, how do I do it? I looked at google and tried some of those steps for the static IP address and changing the router settings and I got a DNS error.

This is a great walk through. Keep in mind that your WIFI signal has to stay above 40% to keep a good connection. The Media Server mess'es with my computer sometimes also. This walk through helped me out 100%. Good luck.

I know that you have a NAT Type 2 connection now, but when you loose connection, you no longer have a NAT Type 2. This set up will try to keep you in a NAT Type 2. If you ever had a problem with your PS3 knocking your PC off line, this will take care of that also.
