Hi to everyone,i recetly bought an xbox 360 from a small retailer in the middle east...the thing is tht when i plugged the console on the 3 Pin power connector it went alrite for about an hour but after some time while playing game the console started to blink 3 RRODS i was so panicked ..i switched off the console and restarted it again ...again during play it showed me the same shit ,,this happened to me for about 4-5 times ...later i discovered tht the 3 pin on whichj my xbox and tv were connected to were was a bit loose ...i than connected my console to the new socket and than i played for about 3-4 hours when all of a sudden my console again showed this stupid RROD but this time when i reseted the console it dint show any signs of life except for the flashing RROd n a blank screen ... i contacted the seller and i explained him the whole situation ..he called the console back and sent it to a technician ...according to him it can get fixed ???

BUT my question here is tht is it really fixable i mean if it is a RROd than thr"s no permanent fix for it rite??

but if it ain't the RROd problem so y did it flash 3 lites and than completely went off ..can some one plzz explain me ???

Basically the way that M$ have attached the heatsink for the GPU and CPU in the 360 is a poor design, the CPU and or GPU are soldered using lead free solder and clamped with an X clamp which has a tendancy to bend the board when it gets hot this pulls the cpu and or gpu away slightly from its contacts and it sounds in your case that its got worse each time and now simply doesnt boot at all. This fault can happen at anytime even from new.
If the unit is new ie not second hand or reconditioned I'd try and get a new console. Im not sure what the deal in the middle east is when it comes to buying something in the UK most stores will make you return it to M$ direct its a known fault they send out a carton to pack it up then collect it fix it and return sometimes they replace the console. Your option are if its new either let the dealer fix it and get assurances over the warranty, if the dealer removes the warranty sticker inside M$ wont touch the console ever! it doesnt matter if the dealer does it or anyone else only M$ can fix it keeping the warranty intact, if the dealer opens it he's voided M$ warranty not a good idea, you could have sent it back to M$ direct not an option if the dealer has already opened it but if they havent maybe get it back contact M$ and take it from there. The benefit of that is M$ will fix it with warranty in tact for a further 2 or 3 years and if it happens again they will repair or replace it.
The dealer is right it can be fixed if done properly but really if its new untouched let M$ do it.

Hope this has helped

Im sure the seller will be aware of the fix, it's something that if you have the knowledge you can do yourself as well and im pretty sure if they have moddified it they'll know how to do this fix. Good luck, if the problems still persist after the fix come back. This problem isnt the end of a box by any means but getting it right is the factor. The fix is done by removing the Xclamp that holds the heatsink in place and then the heatsink is reinstalled with bolts holding it all down, this means the bolts can be adjusted to close any gaps in the solder which is where the problem lies. Do a google search on the RROD fix that way you've got an idea of the fix which maybe will put you in the knowledge of whats going on especially if you gotta talk to the seller.

Best of luck
