Wii shuts itself after trying to read disc

My Wii is modded and has been running fine for 3 weeks. Since yesterday when I started the Wii, it turned itself off after 4 seconds as it tried to read the disc and I am hoping someone can help

Below is a list of things what happen

1. If disc is already in the Console and I turn the console on it shuts down after 4 seconds after reading the disc.

2. If no disc is in the console it goes in the Wii menu and everything works fine. Except when I insert the disc it shuts itself down.

3. After trying about 20 to 30 times it suddenly starts reading the disc and I can play the game.

4. The issue happen's on both Original games and Backup games.

My first wii had similar problems like yours. Except it didn't read anymore. I screw up soldering my wiikey. You might want to check the drive.

Im going with a power problem on the drive, more than likely being caused by the power and ground points used in the modchip install. I have never personally seen this issue, but it seems like when the drive/chip are powering up they are causing an overcurrent situation and thus the wii shuts down. This may also be caused by a poorly seated ribbon cable and/or loose primary connector.

Process of elimination is really the only solution here. First check the cables. Second, if you installed the chip yourself remove it and see if the problem goes away, if it does, try alternate power points and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies...

Its very strange since two days it has been working fine and now this morning again it shuts down. Just to mention I hear a click noise just after it starts to spin the disc and then shuts down.

I did not chip it myself, but I have ordered the screw driver and intend to open it to check if any parts/cables are loose.
