Hey everyone! I just bought a new 80gig PS3 and I'm quite naive to what everyone's doing with them as far as mods etc. I'm pretty versed in PSP mods and custom firmwares etc. Are there PS3 mods in the same regard? Lastly, is there a way to network my PS3 to my home server and play videos and pictures remotely or no?

Thanks for any and all direction you may give. I've done some looking around and there's nothing major that catches my eye right now. Maybe I'm missing something? Basically, if you're a modder...what do you have or what would you do to fully take advantage of this system? Thanks again!

No no mods for it yet, if there was there would be a sticky and people shouting out of their windows :D

And yes you can network the PS3 in order to watch movies, photos and listen to music that may be on your PC you will need to download a program called TVersity. Only problems is that PS3 has problems playing some mkv and h264 files. There is a way around some problems like reencoding all the files that are in those formats, but I;d prefer to wait until someone crakcs the PS3 and we can have homebrew software on it.

So atm TVersity is what you need as well as wishing everyday they finally manage to mod the PS3!

You can also use Windows Media Player 11 that comes with Windows as your Media Server. There are several walk throughs on how to set up WMP11 as a Media server. Once you have your PC set up, Just go to PS3 Network XMB and Enable Media Server. Go to Music, Picture and Video XMB and Serch for Media Server. Good to go.

Bigo93, I use WMP11 cause it was already on my PC. I see alot of people talk about TVersity. Is it better than WMP11? Or what is its benifits over WMP11?

Great guys, thanks for the info about the media server thing. I'v e found a few walkthroughs but none are the same. Any particular one you have bookmarked that works great for you?

And the question of the year...do I do the updates? I know long ago I updated my PSP and had to wait months for that one to get cracked. Doh. So I guess for now since there are no mods, keep the updates coming? I'd like to get into some different themes and maybe music screensavers if it's possible to download any more. Kinda disappointed that only 3 are available.
