Hi Everyone I'm new to this hobby. I need alittle help and directions. I was doing some read on the internet and some how I updated my 3.71 m33-2 to the newest 4.01 M33-2. My question is that do I have to use or copy some type of UMD Emulator to my PSP 4.01 M33-2 in order to play my downloaded ISO games?
Also I'm having problems when creating a or transfering ISO file to my PSP. Do I transfer only the file to my PSP ISO folder or I have to create a folder for each game that I want to play on my PSP?
Thanks!!!!

the firmware 4.01 m33 already has the ability to run iso's right off your mem stick, you just need to drag and drop your cso's and iso's into the ISO folder in your ms root

Just use the 'format memory stick' option from the system settings menu on the psp-It will create the folder directory for you automatically. Then go ahead and drop your iso games into the ISO folder.
Make sure your UMD mode is set to 'NP9660'-you can change this by pressing the select button on your psp while in the XMB-

format the memstick. that will create the proper folder heirarchy.
X:/PSP
X:/ISO
X:/MP_Root
iso's will go into the ISO folder, you can name them however you wish.

Glad to hear it worked for you.
If you have your UMD mode set at default, it will require you to have a UMD game inserted in the drive-Otherwise you will get that 'game cannot be started'(800XXX021)error-That is the nice thing about the NP9660 driver it saves wear on your UMD drive.

dEEz_nUtz, now that I got everything working can you show me some thread that will give me more informaiton on what game system can be played on the PSP like XBox, Play Station 3, and ETC... I love the C&C game for PC and is wondering if I can load that into my PSP and play it while away from home. I saw that C&C 3 is on the Xbox but not play station.
Again Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!

^^As far as playing games from other consoles-You are pretty much limited to older consoles via an emulator-You can play PS1 games as the custom firmware has the emulation built-in...I use nesterJ for my Nintendo games, DGen for Sega Genesis. There are emulators for several consoles out there-I would recommend checking out psp-hacks.com for your emulation needs.

Hi there. I was wondering what did you mean by pressing the select button on your psp while in the XMB? So when I format my MS Pro, I can just put any iso, cso, and csf into ISO folder and it will play? Also, I don't know if this is the right place in the forums to ask, but I want to run Daedalus N64 emu with 4.01 M33-2. I downloaded and it said to put the folder containing Daedalus and Daedalus% in the GAME folder. I did that and it won't work. How can I get it to work? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pressing the select button while in the XMB (psp main menu) will bring up the vsh menu where you can change clock speed, umd mode, etc.
Formatting your memory stick will create the folder directory you need-It will make an 'ISO' folder for you, just drop your iso's into that folder. Your games will show up as icons under the GAME menu in the XMB.
As far as your N64 emulator-You need to make sure you have the 1.50 kernel add-on installed to your psp so it can be used. If you have a slim psp, you will need an emulator that is compatible. You could also try placing the folders into the GAME150 folder and see if that works.

I'll try that. Can I drop CSO and CSF files into ISO folder and play them too? Or do I need to convert CSO to ISO? And the GAME150 folder, do I need to make one or it will be there when I format? Thanks for a fast and clear respond.

cso files will work as well-they are just compressed iso's-
I dont know what CSF files are-Normally games are either in iso or cso format.
The GAME150 folder will be created when you format your memory stick.

I am having a problem with putting ISO/CSO files on to my PSP. One of them shows and the other doesn't show. I deleted them both and now neither show. On top of that when I try to play God of War it begins to load and I get a black screen. The PSP then just shuts off. I am running CFW 4.01 m33-2

Did you format your memory card? If you did, there should be a folder call ISO. Put the cso and iso files into there. Then go to game and it should be there. I did that and it works. Some of the games might not work depending where you get it from. Some of my games don't work but some do.
I know this might be out of topic or against forums policy so I will apologize in advance. Does anybody has a reliable site to find iso or cso files? How about PS1 games? I've been dying to find Marvel Vs. Capcom but only get dead download or Marvel vs. Street Fighter.

I figured it out. I had formatted the card many times but it turns out that anything over 1gb of info on my 8gb card was corrupt data. I was sold a bootleg/fake on ebay. God of War which is 1.5gb was copying as mostly good data and then the rest corrupt. It would also explain why nothing else on my memory stick would show up after I copied GoW on to it. I popped my 2gb memory card back in and everything ran beautifly. Now to dispute my purchase on ebay =/
Thanks for the help though.

I am running 4.01 M33-2 on FAT PSP. I cannot play God of War: Chains of Olympus. The UMD brings error game cannot be started. All diver options result in the same error. I've made an ISO of the original UMD and still, game cannot be started. My Brother in Law has a FAT PSP running I believe 3.52 M33-4 which loads the UMD just fine. Could this just be a compatibility issue with my CFW?

The UMD adds an icon for "PSP Update ver 3.80" however the 4.01 CFW should read as a sufficient version right?

ok so I downloaded some games and I think they are ISO but this is how the folders are after I unzipped all of them.
/Madden 09
then inside that folder there is one thats titled psp game and another
thing that is called UMD_Data.
then inside the folder "psp game" there are more folders that are titled "SISDIR" and "USDIR" and "PARAM.SFO" and the madden icons.
My problem is I have no idea what folder to put where. I put the "Madden 09" folder into the ISO folder but it didnt work. Please help.

^^^Ok actually I just figured it out, your supposed to not unzip the last folder. I just renamed it .ISO and put it into the ISO folder in the root. Just like someone suggested. Thanks Bro.

Hi sorry to bring this up again but i also have this firmware -
It was done for me as I didnt like risking breaking my partners psp. However i cannot load games and i am unsure what i am doing wrong.
In another forum i read that i should use popstationgui to change my games from .bin and .cue (i downloaded my backup) to eboot and keys which is what i did, then put it into the games folder in its own name folder 'spyrothedragon' which is what i did. But got 'game cannot load data is corrupted'.
I have just bought a 8gb memory stick and had formatted it before doing this obviously to bring up a games folder. After reading this i have changed my settings to 'NP9660' as told...i tried loading it from both the games folder *as key and eboot* and also by just putting the original spyrothedragon.bin (without the .cue) in the iso folder - it didnt show up on the main menu.
What am i doing wrong please?! What should i be doing with the .bin and .cue and why wont it load!
As you can tell i am a novice but im not daft i just need telling how to do it once and ill be fine!

you did it right the first time but the problem is either the .bin and .cue you made or the program you used to convert them to eboot.pbp so try AutoPopstation4 it is a all in one dos prompt that just needs a few things answered to convert them for you and it comes with iso producer to make the psx games .iso instead of bin/cue and then it converts the iso to the eboot and lets you change the icon, music or add a .pmf video to your game menu if you want to go that far with making your psx backups and if for some reason iso producer doesnt work for you there are other programs you can use for making .iso like magiciso or alcohol 120%
