Do CD-Rs damage the laser on the PS2 faster?

Is this an urban legend or is it true? I heard cd-rs add more wear to the laser then dvds do. is it?

From what I gather(and have gathered), PlayStation 2s hate CDs. I'm not sure about burnt ones, but I know that blue-bottomed original PlayStation 2 CDs cause a lot more wear on the laser than silver-bottomed PlayStation 2 DVDs. Not quite sure why(drive spins faster/poor quality discs?), but it's a fact that CDs strain the laser more than DVDs(again, I'm only sure of original discs, not burnt ones).
