Thanks.
O2 in UK.
I have started a new thread with a bit more info titled .
"Is my 6230i permanently locked? ignore my first post"
Someone suggested it may hard locked. So I started a new thread then realised I didn't know how to close the old one!

Your code:Try this ONCE and ONCE only.
Remember,you only get 3 to 5 tries.
If you enter the same code two times,
that is two tries.
To enter code:
Make sure battery is charged.
Put in a SIM from a new Network.
A new one or one with NO security PINs enabled.
Power on.
Select UNDO with NEW SIM in phone.
Press the # key.
then press the "star" key (*)
quickly to get the P and W and +
Press * 3 times quickly for (p) \
Press * 4 times quickly for (w) IMPORTANT
Press * 2 times quickly for (+) /
and the rest of the code---
Begin with # and end with #.
No spaces.
Select OK
"Phone restrictions off", it's unlocked.
"Error code" wrong code. STOP tell me.
"Not allowed" or "Can Not Undo Restriction"
it is hard locked.
Used up all your free tries!!
If it does not work, tell me: What happened?
What message you got.
What codes you tried.
Above all, answer.

If it's locked to O2 UK,
that's the only code for that phone.
Sorry,

I assumed that as I saw the O2 logo when I switched it on that it was the network. I was probably wrong.
My simcard is O2.
The only other network could be Vodaphone UK.
I could ask the guy who had the phone before

He says it could only be O2 or Vodaphone.
Could you send the code for vodaphone please?
If that doesn't work, would taking it to an unlocking shop be worth trying?
I can't keep hassling you as I go thro' all the networks.
Cheers,
Roy

Many Thanks,
Still 'code error'.
Is it hardlocked or completely hosed?
Anything else to try or shall I go to an unlocking shop?
Or just bin it?

We can assume it is hardlocked.
Take it to a shop and have it unlocked.
You could try every SIM you can borrow and see what works.
It will work on the original Network.
Could be Voda Ireland or T-Mobile UK.

Hi Joe,
The shop unlocked my mobile. They didn't need to know the Network.
Do they have access to a Nokia master code or something?
Or is it because they use a cable to connect to a PC?
Could this the software on the CDs that I see on Ebay?
