I have an all-in-wonder card, and have been capturing tv shows in mpeg-1/VCD format...i have used 3 different programs to edit out the commercials(virtualdub, ifilmedit, and tmpgenc)...however, when i output the file, the video is always behind the audio in all three programs. if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Capture into some other format (that takes more space), because "realtime encoding" to VCD format can be done only by dropping the quality -- therefor you get better quality if you use non-compressing codec to capture the TV shows and then edit the video (cut commercials, etc) and encode with TMPGEnc after that is done. Doing this way I can ensure that you experience less problems with synch and also achieve at least 50-60% better video quality.

thanks, i tried that, and it seemed to help...only had a little unsync, but since i'm converting to divx anyway, i just fixed that w/ avi_info. It gets progressively worse at the end. Thanks again

You're very likely capturing with wrong framerate if it gets worse when the movie/clip goes further.

the captured file is perfect...it's the output file from the editors that has the sync problem.

Well, at some point the wrong framerate is applied anyway -- whether it is in capturing, editing or encoding process.
