Hi everyone.
I've read a couple topics here and you guys seem to know what you're talking about so i'll put my problem to you in the hope of being able to fix it.

I am trying to play some CSO and ISO files on my PSP Slim 4.01 m33-2.
Now, I have got some working already, by doing what others have told me on other sites, and so I will be specific as to which games are giving me which issues.

I have downloaded a few CSO and ISO games. All of which were before I discovered this site, yet were downloaded as torrent files, and had many people seeding each, with many downloads. This naturally makes me assume it's not the files that are at fault.

I have managed to get both Echochrome and Street Fighter 3 Alpha Max to work, both as CSO files. These work well.
I had FIFA 08, Metal Gear: Portable Ops, and GTA: Liberty city stories all working at one point, but each with different issues.
FIFA 08 had no commentry, or messed up commentry. But, being a CSO, I put this down to the commentry being all but ripped from the game in the compression of the file.
Metal Gear: Portable Ops worked perfectly up until the end of the first mission, where it went to a black screen, froze, and then shut down my psp automatically about 5 seconds later.
GTA loaded up the developers screens and made it to the loading screen, before freezing and, again, shutting off my psp a few seconds later.

So, I decided it could be my CFW. I was then on 3.90 m33-3 so I upgraded myself to 4.01 m33-2 in the hope of fixing things. Now, NONE of the above three games will even start up, let alone get the chance to freeze me. I keep getting the error code and the message that the game couldn't be started after trying. All 3 games load the Icons and backgrounds of the games, and I know they are in the correct directory (ISO folder on the root of my stick), so I cannot see why they have now decided to stop working all together.

I have been searching for 2 days now to a solution, and have had no joy. I've tried literally anything people have suggested, including:

Reformatting my stick
Upgrading my CFW
Changing the CPU Clock to 333/166
Changing the XMB Clock to 333/166
Changing the UMD ISO mode to both M33 No UMD, and Sony NP9660
Replacing the ISO/CSO files on the stick (I have done this so many times it's frustrating)
Disabling the 'Advnced' options in under the 'Advanced' menu in Recovery mode
Putting a UMD in the drive and letting it load before loading the ISO/CSO files.

And there are probably other things I have tried too, I just forget since i've done so many things to try and work them.

The only Plugin I have is the Popsloader for my PS1 Games, and my configuration menu under recovery mode reads as follows (Shortened as I would be here forever):

Disabled
Disabled
4.xx kernel
Disabled
Sony NP9660 -NO UMD-
Disabled
Enabled
Memory Stick
Disabled
Enabled
Disabled

Please if you have any suggestions, please post. I am getting so tired of this now..
Even if you think I may have tried your suggestion, please still post, as I can clarify anything for you.
Someone please help me :(

Sorry, I turned off the VSH menu and it appeared to work. All the games would load further and start up. But, I have an issue where almost every game I play, it freezes at some point in the games. Usually very near the beginning.

Any suggestions?

Hi folks I am having the same issues as the fellow above, but with one twist. It seems my CSO files play just fine it is the ISOs that completely balk. There is no error code, they are simply just not seen by the system.

To my knowledge I have every PRX imaginable for popsloader to recognize. And I have shortened the file names in case that was an issue.

Is it possible that this is a Brand Name MS issue? At one time (on a name brand MS) I got the VSH to recognize the ISO of a movie, but then it wouldn't load it. No error code. On the 'clone' MS All MP4s and CSOs loaded and executed with no problems. Is it possible that I am missing a plugin/s? I would think as far as the homebrew market has come there would be no need for having to mandate the use of a UMD (it just seems to me that that defeats the purpose of using the CFW).

Any help is greatly appreciated. This situation is becoming most intolerable.

I am using a PSP slim with 4.01 M33-2.

Thanks again.

Hi, it seems nobody knows how to fix my issue, as I have been waiting quite some time with no reply. What I will say is this though, the prx's you have for use with your popsloader, are only needed when playing ps1 games, no?

If that is the case, ps1 games have to be in EBOOT format, not ISO.

Otherwise, so if it's a psp game, so long as you're putting it in the same folder as your cso, I can see no problem and do not understand why it would not recognize the file..

Sorry if you know all of the above and i've just patronized you, but I could not see the link between the popsloader and the ISO files, and you can never be too careful when trying to give advise. :)

There is no link between ISO and POPS. I had the same problem with alot of games like yours. I have found that formatting the flash1 in recovery menu and setting the driver to the M33 one and also formatting the memstick and putting the games on again will help.

Thanks for the input Dark, but my situation turned out to be a bad memory stick and a belligerent act of denial on my behalf that I need a UMD to get the movies to play.

My only retort for flashing the flash(0) is; I have heard that fumbling about in that part of the firmware could run a pretty good risk of bricking your psp. The popsloader is the system that I use and other than taking up about 35MB of a memory stick(every memory stick)I have no trouble at all accessing ISOs of any type.

It could be the other guys having problems may not know how to use the VSH handle after loading the plugin?
