DMC 4 piracy causing release delay in Japan, says Capcom

The American branch of Capcom has revealed that sales of the PC version of Devil May Cry 4 have been "pirated to hell" and that Capcom Japan now refuses to release it digitally.
Capcom vice president of strategic planning Christian Svensson noted, "I'm not sure about how Capcom in general feels but it's not doing as well as I would like in the US at retail."

Maybe if it wasn't 6 months later than concoles..and MAYBE if Capcom hadn't totally botched RE4 for the PC (no mouse, $hitty textures)..gamers would have a little more respect. At any rate, you can't expect someone to both TAKE it up the ass by a corporation AND like it..

This shouldnt be a suprise to any game company if they were to make a game on PC. Thats why console software sales are significantly greater than PC software. Crysis was a prime example. But we'll see how well Rockstar will learn from this when GTA VI gets ported to PC.

That is the price for going multiplatform, they knew it.
Capcom is my No1 fav game manufacturer but after onimusha 2 there is nothnig much to show off, is going from bad to worst and after going multiplatform ... things gone even worst.

Perhaps potential buyers downloaded it and decided it was no good to buy. I have this game, haven't tried it yet, but I don't even feel like it knowing how all the RE ports were from Capcom. Capcom needs some better PC programmers to port games, or they need to hire a company like Aspyr.

So the reason you give for piracy is a game going multi platform then, thanks for your cognitive insight.
the reason this game is not selling is because it sucks, kick punch, flashy hand grab here and there, shoot your gun collect the jems as you smash the vases and you can do a supa dupa 1001*10 combo hit, wow.
this game is designed for kids on a console, not mature adults that own PC's a stupid keyboard layout, poor camera angles, bland, repetitive trollop, with nothing more than effects to sell a pointless title that is not even worth the bandwidth to steal.
This is one of the worst games ever and should have stayed on the console it was designed for and well away from the PC, it does not even support 1920 by 1200, another crappy console game destroying the quality of pc titles.
tatsh dude, download pong you will have more fun, or just open up solitaire, its streets of rage with better effects, actually streets of rage was a better game.

Same thing here..I was enjoying it for about oh..20 minutes and then..eh. Jump, punch, kick, run..sorry but when youve grown up with the likes of Baldurs Gate, Fallout, HL2 Diablo and Thief, well, you expect a lot more for your 40 bucks. So I'll leave DMC4 for the console kiddies.

I have always enjoyed the DMC series and i think the reasons for problems with piracy is just b/c they are porting it to PC in the first place. Major games shouldnot be ported to PC. People are more likely to pirate the game on PC than on a gaming console. COD4 on PC was pirated like crazy. Most console owners would just buy the game.

I am not saying that DMC4 is a 10/10 game but history has showed us that games that people want more get more pirated.
If DMC4 was released just for PS3 or 360 it wouldent be pirated or at least to that level. The PC piracy is greatest, no doubt.
DMC4 that you say that you just beat up and make crazy combos, let me remind you that this is what this game is all about, you like it or not thats it, if they have done it well or not thats has nothing to do with what this game is, or with the piracy.
The PC version does support fullhd.

The native resolution on the consoles is 720p not anywhere near full hd and the pc title 1280 x 1024 as this is the MAX that DX10 supports here, the pc crowd has had resolution on most titles that support the current vga ability and for a while its been 1920 by 1200 until you get the poor ports from console based games to a pc so all we get on the pc is a scaled down title as it was designed for a games console which seems to be a worrying trend at the moment, generally titles are ported from a pc to games console and quality is reduced so they are able to run the given title, because of this backwards cashing in trend it's destroying the quality of the PC titles but we don't want rubbish lackluster boring games on the PC thank you very much.
you can keep shilling out £45 per title that the corporations have paid for a 8/10 review of and ran a huge marketing campaign for if you feel you are getting your monies worth, but DMC4 is a real shit bomb.
If you can't meet your sales targets you can always blame poor sales on pirates to dupe the investors!
so if ppl keep being sold complete crap what are they going to do you ask:
1. Unrar.
2. Burn or mount the image.
3. Install the game.
4. Copy the cracked content over from the Crack directory on the disc to
your installation directory.
5. Play the game.

BULL SHT must have been what you were sniffing before you made this post b.c you act like you are the only who knew the soft mod was in the 360. Give your arrogant ignorant self a pat on the back but you may want to wash your hands first. My thing was just not to make the big popular games on PC if they are having as much trouble with people playing online with pirated copies as they make it out to be. Game developers and companies have been talking about the piracy on PC and talking about not releasing some games for the PC D/T the large amount or piracy. Everyone knows that piracy exist on PC and consoles. Hell i know i had enough games on PS2 and PS1 to prove that. If piracy is just as bad or worse on the consoles as it is on PC then why are they only talking about stopping the port of games to PC as a option??? Oh by the way, people who want to play xbox360 games online, such as COD4, usually just buy the game rather than get their consoles banned and then go through the trouble of trying to figure out how they will get online again. why do you think reviews have been scaled back recently (obtaining pre release games) to only select sources, all of which rely on advertising revenue to keep their business afloat.

If you actually take the time to click on the link i previously posted and look to the right of IGN's rating you will see an average score from the reviews left by whom?? People like you and me. It's the reader average. Now if you still think otherwise go to gamepro, EGM sites and whatever other videogaming sites you can find. If you can find a site where THE MAJORITY of the readers and people that have played DMC actually give the game more bad reviews than good then i would really like you to come and post all those sites link so that myself and everyone else here can see that. I respect your opinion that you think the game is garbage. You are entitled to that. If we all were the same the world would be a boring place but like i said and i will say it again, the majority of the world thinks your opinion about the game is far out in left field and that is a FACT. If i were you i wouldnot take me up on the offer to post the links and reader reviews to try and prove me wrong on this b/c you will find no proof that your opinion is shared by the majority of gamers around the world. Keep your opinion and dont play the game while the rest of the world keeps enjoying it. Much props to DMC and Capcom.

either that or paid goons just writing reviews like what happens at amazon, eh zippy my friend.
you do know lxhotboy that you don't actually have to purchase the game to leave a review, it kind of falls into the category of "don't believe everything you see on the internet" as that beautiful 20 year old is really a fat balding man.
It's a game that is targeted at younger adults and kids who own consoles, why would an adult just want to just repetitively bash a button on a keyboard to get a big fat combo (lame) when we have wife's with G-Spots and a clitoris to play with. we require quality titles with more depth this title belongs in an arcade.
to get back on topic its a crap game with little to no advertising for the pc version released months after the console release, a genera that is not core to pc users that requires extra hardware to play (controller), has very poor camera angles and lame repetitive game play, comes from a publisher renowned for possible the worst pc ports and pure cashing in titles/sequels, this is why they have had poor sales not because of pirates or tripwires, from the try before you buy troop.

You're no different than everyone else LEACH!! My ranting and raving is directed at people JUST LIKE YOURSELF. You constantly justify your rampant theft and pirating. Have you EVER bought a game in your life? Have you bought ANY in the past 5 years? Probably not.
