ok guys so i used iprep on my pc along time ago to flash and it worked fine, then i went to do it again about 4 months down the road and now it wont work. i tred 3 different flash sticks, and i updated all of my software. everything goes fine but when i boot up to the usb stick it goes to a command prompt like state without the command prompt. it just sits there with a little white blinking "cursor" as if it wants me to type something in, but i cant do anything. anyone else had this problem? i wrote this same question about a month ago and it went unanswered. any help would be nice, i am trying to make sure i can get up and running for the new FW that I personally am expecting to come out. thanks.

I would help you out bro,but I don't use the usb method.I think if you still have problems you could always use the NTFS4DOS method, and I could walk you through it that is if you can't find a solution.

what i cant understand is the usb boot drive i first made when i used iprep to do a version 1.4 flash still works perfect, so why would these 2 other sticks not work?

I have no clue bro,but think of it this way when messing with usb there is always a chance you could lose connection somewhere as well. What type of usb drives are you using homesick as in what brand, and if they are all the same then I have no clue why its giving you problems if the first one worked.Another thing I could ask is what version of iPrep did you use before that worked, and if it is the same version you used up until now then this can't be the problem.I'm always willing to help you out bro,but dealing with the iPrep usb method I don't think I could give you the best answer to the problem your having.I know wabashman or someone familiar with the usb method may be able to help you out or might be able to lend you a hand on the problem.I use the NTFS4DOS method, and I ran into problems as well with this method dealing with the 32GB partition limit before actually figuring it out on my own.I don't think it would hurt if you gave wabashman a PM about the problem or asked him if he could help you out.I think bhetrick is another person you could PM to ask for help about the usb method.I'm just not the best person to help out with the usb method,as I have never used it in all honesty.Best of luck though sorting out your problem, and like I said if you can't find a solution or get any help I can help you out getting setup on the NTFS4DOS method if the usb method problem never gets sorted.

i am having the same issue as you are, based on your experiences it must be the jump drive so i get a new one. I have tried 2 different jumpdrives on 2 different pc's both running Nvidia , one is nForce 4 and the other is nForce 650i

I went to Wal-Mart and bought a Scan Disk Cruzer Micro 2GB for 12 bucks and it works fine on my P5N-E Sli Mother board. I had to go into the bios of course and set it to boot to removable media and then set my removable media from floppy to my USB Stick ( which i did for the last one and it didn't work ). Since i can boot to the disclaimer screen i assume i will be able to flash now. My mother board chipset is a Nvidia nForce 650i and i'm running Windows XP 64-bit and iprep 101 V006.2 ( a beta relase for 64 bit OS support ). Just wanted to add this in case anyone searches on this topic and then they will know what the cause of a blicking white cursor
is ( unsupported USB jump drive )

I want to thank homesick for his post which lead me to realize that the USB stick must have been the source of my problems and so it was. For informative pursoses i just want to add that i tried 2 different Lexar jump drives with my chipset and they don't work. I have also tried them on a different system and got a Blinking white cursor on that system as well and it was a 32-bit version of XP and it's chipset is a Nvidia nForce 4 ( Don't know if my new scandisk jump drive will boot to it or now ).

Thanks again homesick

Ohh by the way the author of iprep states after you use iprep and prepair you jump drive and you restart your system some drives can't boot to the jump drive with a restart and you should shutdown the pc and then turn it back on to boot to jump drive but not the case with all jump drives

well i am not able to confirm this but its very funny, because the Scan Disk Cruzer Micro is the one i am using that works! i am really tempted to go buy another one and see if thats what was up. but that is too odd that the same brand you said is the only one that will work for me. i'll have to go try it out, thanks alot for posting this info! i was ready to give up!

I thank you too, if you hadn't posted your issue about one jump drive that worked for you and now you had a new one and it wouldn't work any more. This told me that it must be my jump drive as i had different experiences with 2 different jump drives using iprep and i guess i hit the jack pot when i got the scan disk. It's funny though i also bought a kingston and a PNY so i would have 4 different brands to try from. But with luck the first one i opened worked so i can just retun the others.

Thanks
