Why does Wii randomly shut off?

Ok, so sometimes when my bros play the Wii, it randomly shuts off. The light on the Wii goes black. I have to disconnect and connect the electric cable to the Wii in order to get it to become red again. Sometimes, when I try to turn it on, It just goes black and shuts off.

Why!?

Make sure it is not in a confined space when you play, make sure it has good air flow around it. If it is still overheating, it would point to some form of hardware problem.

Mine quite happily stays on most of the day, without a problem.
