Oh yeah sorry regular xbox backups can be played as well, but a certain routine has be performed when making them in order for them to work.If you use Ixtreme firmware you have to make them a certain way,and they have to be put on a Dvd+R DL disc unless you use an older firmware such as extreme which I wouldn't recommend.

I'm not sure why your Xbox 360 dvd tray keeps ejecting, but it sounds like a bad dvd drive. If you replaced the drive the problems should would be fixed.I would recommend doing a firmware dump of the drive you have.

hey i have a question, i thought u cant switch or replace dvd drive.. or maybe i am wrong.. u can only switch drives when they are the same drive right? like lets say my drive is samsung so in order for me to replace it, i have to get the same samsung drive right? if i replace it with benq drive, will it work? i am just curious.

You can swap out any drive besides the Lite-On drives, but the catch is you need the dvd drive key in order for it to work.If the models are different you can still swap it out with a completely different type like the Benq drive in your case, but you will have to spoof the firmware to think it is a Samsung drive. The best thing I would recommend doing is to replace the Samsung drive you have with the same Samsung model, because then you won't have to do any extra steps in order for it to work.If you need any more assistance let me know, and I will try my best to help you out.

my samsung drive sometimes wont eject and sometimes wont close, is that caused due to chrome bezel or the drive itself?

It sounds like the drive itself is having problems to me,because I've seen other people having issues like this as well.It can be fixed though, and probably wouldn't take long. When you said the dvd drive bezel is it not fitted on the drive right.

no, the dvd drive fits perfectly.. sometimes i have to use the finger to push it upward a little for the drive to eject.

i also believe it's the drive itself that is causing the eject problem. I already ordered a new samsung drive from ebay, should be getting it soon and i will swap it with the broken one. i will let u know if it works by then. thanks for your help.

yes. when you flash, you flash the dvd drive. so if you get a replacement, you have to flash that one to play backups.

never mind i got it to work. what i did was that i switched the circuit board inside the old samsung dvd drive with the new samsung dvd drive. took it apart and just switched it. it works perfectly now. it can now read properly and eject properly. i was kinda brave last night to do everything on my own since i never taken apart my xbox 360 before and the dvd drive.
