Well I would love to see some of those asshats on the border (rent a cops) try to boot up my laptop with Drivecrypt installed (with boot auth password!).
They should be able to crack the password in about..oh..3,400,000 years.

wtf? what kinda s*** is this? I am a us citizen, and have been since birth. I would like to see them try to justify confiscating my voodoo ”:703, for no reason, when all it has on it is pc games... not an mp3 or anything, It being a voodoo would also feather strengthen my case that they were trying to steal my expensive gaming laptop. I would allow them to examine the data on it, and confiscate the hard drive(s) at the very most, only because i have nothing to hide, provided they were going to reimburse me the money for a new drive, on the spot. They have no need for the rest of the hardware, as i would never see it again, even if i did it would probably be scratched up (considering its in mint condition atm).
what a stupid policy, if somebody did have some kind of terrorest evidence on theres all they would have to do is "accadently" drop it when handing it over, once the drives arm snaps on impact and scratches the platters when powered up, so much for evidence...
Why doesn't bush stick to what he knows best? terrorizing foreign (probably innocent)nations...

I really like how the government tries to make us feel safer by saying it's to fight terrorism. The war on terror is a ruse to get us to submit to tighter laws taking away our freedoms and rights. I don't feel any safer knowing that the U.S. government has such tight control over us. In fact it makes me feel less safe knowing that incompetent imbeciles are there to protect me.

I know that the 4th amendment pertaining to "being secure in ourselves and our papers" existed for our homes, but now the prevention of illegal search and seizure without warrant is need more than ever.
And whatever happened to probable cause anyway ?

This is ******* retarded. Those A$$***** think they can fight terrorism by stealing our laptops and other personal devices. I'm traveling in 2 days and I'll be putting a hard to decrypt password on my laptop. If they take it they can go ahead and take my hard drive, not the laptop.

They're not high they're drunk with power. I'm curious how many people know the history of democracies. If I remember correctly their average lifespan is around 200 yrs. How does that old saying go "those that don't know their history are doomed to repeat it" or something like that.

The real problem here would be the individuals who carry out these regulations, this is an open door for customs *bleep* who just got the urge for an ipod touch, and see a guy with one. hmmmm think about that when you get bent over

Look I'm all for the goverment protecting me but This just plan stupid and it even promotes/allows racism.
I second that more then half the stuff will end up "missing" or "missing" the return address information by the time its time to mail it back to you. and im sure it says somewhere that all unclaimed items become the property of the government. Just because its not worth it for somebody to rip off your $400 dell dose not mean they wouldn't try it with better stuff.
I'm thinking of myself and my stuff (which i worked dam hard to get) (you can call it selfish or what ever you want)because the goverment sure as hell isn't if they have there way they will abolish social security and Medicare and I will have to work till the day i die. the government was on prior notice of 911 yet they did nothing to prevent it, now they are joking around with this crap to try and look like they give a dam, This is the biggest joke (and insult) yet. All politicians look out for them selves, then the American people not the other way around, anybody that says otherwise really needs to take a look at modern history.

Sure they can have my laptop or ipod whatever etc...if they pay for it.I'm not going to give up any of my expensive electronics for free willingly they can go straight to hell.As for America being the country of the free, well lets just say that has been gone for awhile now.I wouldn't be suprised at how long America will last with all the price gouging and garbage laws being passed constantly not to mention America is selling its soul to other countries. Its going to come down to a point sometime in the future where a resistance against the government is inevitable.

what a great way to install them phone home key logging trojans onto all your notebooks! Time to leave the USA ppl, imho move to....... well anywhere else.
....Who are we protecting ourselves against again?
Where are the threats? Where are the terrorists? Where is the danger?
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
====================================================================
SDF_GR was Saddam a fascist was he, i think you should give up reading the sun (UK bigoted, narrow minded paper for the masses of sheep owned by government propaganda tool, Rupert Murdoch (sky, ect)) and try to learn some history, instead of making wild uneducated statements that make you look stupid!
Did the US fight Germany in WW II because the Nazis were evil, the Cold War because Stalin was wicked, and seek to contain China because Mao killed millions?
Seriously read a book or two, American foreign policy and greed of the ruling elite is the cause of most of the worlds issues which is why Iran and Venezuela are both targets, nationalise oil or banking and the bombs will start to drop, and even worse start to trade in euros instead of the dollar and the troops will be sent in, and you will be hung as an example.
here are the fascists:
30/10/2000 Iraq changes form $ to euro?s for oil sales (axis of evil 1)
2001 Iran switch form $ to euro?s for oil sales (axis of evil 2)
7/12/2002 North Korea switches all trading from the $ to euro?s, not just oil. (axis of evil 3)
Hugo Chavez Venezuela held chairmanship of Opec & puts on the table for all petroleum sales to be Switched from $ to euro would collapse the $ so
America turns to anti propaganda towards Venezuela to oust a democratically elected leader!
BUSH'S DEEP REASONS FOR WAR ON IRAQ: OIL, PETRODOLLARS, AND THE OPEC EURO QUESTION
take your time its about 3 a4 sides long so maybe read a few lines a day then maybe you can read some books on Palestine and the weapons given to Israel for free by the USA to commit genocide there all paid for by the US tax dollar who are the fascists SDF_GR?

So you would have no problem with the government holding onto your property for an undisclosed time for no reason what so ever.
I wonder the s^$t storm that would be generated if a country that isn't exactly friendly with the U.S if they tried to introduce this law. Imagine if China has something like this, it would be front page news. These are the sort of horror stories they used to tell you what it would be like living in the Soviet Union. (back in the day)
Ughh, sorry for the rant, but its stupid laws like this that makes me angry.
I know this is cliché but unfortunately it is become more true with every passing day
