Hello, just wondering if anyone has heard of anyone else having problems with vertical lines when playing their 360? It only started doing it lately, the lines are a pinkish colour, they stretch right from the top to the bottom, each line about a half centimetre width. I tried googling but either I'm using the wrong keywords to search or no one else has had this problem. It definitely only happens with 360 though, eveything else (wii/dvd/etc) is fine. Is this a pre-symptom for the RROD? Thanks for any help.

The degradation has advanced:) Now I have the E74 error message. Wonder if anyone has any surefire tips to fix this? I have no warranty with the machine.

Sorry but I have nothing for you, being since you have no warranty. You could check the cables that hook into the TV itself, or If you have an HDMI cable just ensure that it is tightly secured into both ends, the TV and the system itself. I don't own a 360 because of the failure rate in itself, because PS3 offers just about the same multi ported games as well as some exclusives too, and the few games that are exclusive for the 360 just aren't worth the hassle of a broken console. I am sorry for not being able to help, but I am sure someone will. be patient, this site is awesome-it helps me when i need some direction. Thanks for posting.

E74: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement (see error 0102)


My advice is check the AV cable, if that is not the problem find a reputable site and have it repaired.
