I need to play a back up of "guitar hero 3" plus the first "need for speed" and "wii sports" back up discs.

Whats the right chip to buy at this very moment?

I have not yet purchased the wii yet. The reason being is that I hope I can choose the chipset of the wii to buy. Meaning I want to get a wii with the most compatible chipset for the best and easiest to install mod chip. Am I dreaming I can do this?

If so, I imagine I will get what they have in the store.....correct?

You are dreaming a bit. The reason for new modchips are coming out is because nintendo keeps changes its drive chipset.

You can get a D2Pro9 Rev3 which supports all DVD drives already out including the newer D2E.
