So I installed D2Pro v2 via clip, downloaded a number of ISOS, burned them to Verbatim DVD+Rs, and had no problem... then I ran out of Verbatim DVD+Rs and started using other DVD+Rs I had: Phillips. Apparently the Wii doesn't like that too much, because though the system recognizes the games, it doesn't let me get beyond the prompt from the menu to play them.

This is the only thing I ever burn DVDs for, so I wouldn't want to stock up on a ton only to not use them. And since I've already got them, I'd ideally like to find a way to make the Phillips DVDs work. Can anyone help me out with this?

In addition, can I buy a limited amount (i.e. less than 10) dual layer DVDs so I can burn Brawl?

I'm not sure what you think can be done. Cheap disks are cheap disks and the wii doesn't like them. There's nothing you can do to make them work. Your only option is to try different burn speeds and you may get lucky and get a good burn, though they might not work for long even then. Cheap disks tend to fail quickly also.

Some places sell individual DL disks and packs of 2, I have seen them about but only for cheap brands so they are no use to you anyway. Get one off a friend or something, someone must have some good DL disks.

@TC, it is what it is. Consensus is Verbatim DVD-R or Taiyo Yuden for SL. I don't know what it is for DL but I failed with Fuji and was successful with GQ.

If Phillips don't work, they don't work and there's really nothing you can do to make them work (that's easy or reasonable).

Sometimes you can buy DL in a 3pk or single but unless you live close to the store it's advisable to have spares in case you have a burn problem.
