I'm trying to flash my BenQ drive and everything goes well up until the point where the status of the drive starts toggling between 0x51 and 0xD1. After that, I turn the 360 off which makes it stop toggling, but when I turn it back on after a few seconds it just starts toggling again and never switches to 0x73 as it's supposed to, therefore the reading never starts.
I have done this using Iprep by typing "dben" followed by my SN and have also done it manually with dosflash and the same thing happens.
I tried on 2 different PCs already (don't have the chipset information handy since they are my friend's computers since I have a laptop) and the same things happened on both. Since I was able to get it to toggle I think the chipset must not be the problem, but then again I'm no expert.
I have searched for info on this on a lot of sites and it doesn't seem to be a very common problem and nobody seems to have a definite answer.
Does anybody have any suggestions or had this problem themselves that could tell me how to solve it?
buy a via6421 chipset card and try it, it pretty much solves 90% of the problems. I was so frustrated trying to flash with my mobo with the same problem.
Seems like it doesn't work with anything else but a Via or nForce chipset. No matter if it's detected, it won't work.
I went to a friend's house last night and was able to flash it with his computer that has an nForce chipset. I didn't even get the toggling part, it just went straight to flashing.
I had tried what PS2Menace suggested about turning it off and on right away and it didn't work either. Had also tried having the Xbox on while I turned the computer on, having the Xbox off and I don't know how many other things and nothing worked.
Bottom line is, you need a Via or nForce chipset to flash a BenQ drive, anything else will just not work, even if it recognizes your drive.

I have a VIA 6241a card so I didn't even think of the damn chipset you were using. Silly rookie mistake.
