is it possible to burn games to cdr

like is there a certain brand to use

i dont have a normal disk drive it doesnt look like any of the pictures ive seen

So DVD disks don't work? You're going to have a hard time playing games
via disk. Most of the Xbox games are over 1gig in size. However, you can use CD-R's for just about anything, like if you don't have FTP, then you can use CD-R's to transfer data.

I use Verb's, Sony CD-R's work as well.

how do i burn data to cds so they work in the xbox?
or so i can transfer it i tried burning a data cd with nero
and it wasnt recognized and i tried burning an iso of tetris world with dvd decrypter and that didnt get recognized either

the brand im using is philips cd-r 700mb 80min 52xspeed

and when i said it doesnt look like a normal disk drive i meant it doesnt look like the thompsons samsung or the other one



it kind of looks like th thompson but mine has 2 extra holes in it like the samsung but way smaller

Sorry for the bad quality of the pics...i just snapped them. As for it reading cdr's i couldn't tell you, i don't have a modded hard drive or even a hard drive in that box anymore. I can throw one in there tomorrow and see if it reads cdr's.

Then I have that drive, and it reads CD-R's just fine. Just wondering what are you burning for games I use a DVD disk, but for like apps, ROM's and such, I just drag and drop them with the burning program windows has.

i burned a tetris iso to the cd-r. i went and bought another xbox with a phillips dvd drive so its just my thompson xbox that has trouble with cd-r's. i have one more question could you suggest a good replacment hardrive i want to store games/movies on it.

The tommy will read cd-r so long as you don't finalize the burn ;) You will find that the laser tweak works excellently on thomson drives.. I have one which read nothing and is still working like a star 5 years on XD

BTW.. that's the first Hitachi xbox drive I have ever seen.. they must have not sold them here.

Yeah you can see it says canada all over the label which is where i bought the box from. It actually goes to this beast. (got a new buyer for it)


The crystal clear limited edition is probably one of the only boxes to have that drive.

To your other question isaac i have bought maybe 10 500gig 16mb cache drives off ebay from a couple different places. It will probably cost about 100 dollars. Here's a good search for you

You can use something smaller but for the price the 500 gig is the best deal. Just make sure to format the drive with the AID disc and u'll be good to go.

i have one more question =p i installed xbmc as my dash wich version is the latest that still has xlink kai support and how do i update to that versions(+ where can i get skins) (that drive he pictured is the one in my xbox the hitachi? its just a normal black xbox. and are xboxes suppossed to come with WesternD hardrives?)
