Wiikey - Some games play, some don't...NOT Media DVD-R related

I have many games backed up on Verbatim DVD-R's.

They have all played with no issue since I had the wiikey installed a year ago. Lately though, some games won't load. I get the Disc Read Error issue, please eject and shut off system.
Happens waaaaaay too often.
Funny thing is some games work all the time (Mario Kart).

Now I know the first thing people will say is it's the media. But I don't think so. These games worked with no problem for so long. I haven't done anything new to my wiikey/wii.

I'm running latest wiikey firmware 1.9s and am on 3.2U.

Again, Verbatim DVD-r's that played all the time up until about a week ago.

Could the Verbatim's go bad? (Some games I've played a long time ago once or twice with no problem and am just now revisiting only to have them not work).
Is it the disc drive? Is it something with the wiikey?

Any help is appreciated.

Could be media related.

The dye of the media can break down over time.

I would try ripping the backup to PC with ImgBurn and then re-burn it on new media and see if it will work.

I have exactly the same problem.
All games are burnt with Imgburn, and been using the same TDK 16x DVD+R printable for all.
I have tried re-burning ISO and sometimes it works but generally it seems I am getting more read errors.
Hope the laser is ok.
Wii is 8 months old.
