Hello everyone and yes, I've searched the forums, googled and even read the manual that comes with Nero Vision. The manual explains the option to do this but not what it is and why or why not you'd choose it.
A little background. Learned about torrent files a week ago from my nephew (same one that taught me how to download songs 4 years ago!) and have been learning about these processes and getting the right software installed for the last week. I have copied CD's and more recently, DVD's, but never worked with the different file types involved with torrents.

I printed at least 4 or more How to Guides from your website and I am grateful for their information.

However, I am asked this question by Nero Vision 4 when trying to burn certain files: Do you want to merge VOB elements into a single video if possible? I don't know - do I? Mostly, these are concert DVD's that I will be burning. I just can't find an answer to that question.
Thank you for being here!

What you want from your videos is totally up to you.

I understand that but what I don't understand is what the question means? What are the merits of merging vs not merging? I don't understand what it is - yet!

Thanks!

It means you can have separate videos for each video that you have or you can have 1 video which contains all of them. You will have 1 title if you merge where the other way you will have many titles.

So, if I understand correctly, I can turn each song of a concert DVD into a chapter and be able to go to that chapter and play just that one song if I want to or I can merge the files and it would be one long concert with no way to make selections unless I rewind or fast forward?
Thank you for the further explanation!

No.
Each song would be a separate title, not chapter. If you merge all into one title, you can use VobBlanker to make chapter points for each song.

Thanks, again for your help. I've downloaded the program you suggested and I have printed a user guide written by a member for a previous version to help learn the program.

I hope you don't mind another question . . .

What are the differences between titles and chapters? When would you want to use one over the other? I know this is basic info but that's why we get the title of "newbie!"

How is it done in Nero Vision?
Nero Vision and Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 are the basic programs I am using although mostly Nero for DVD's as I am not sure which Roxio program to use - DivX to DVD creator?

I think my main problem is being new to torrent files, their different types, how to convert them to usable media and, of course, which format is preferred while I am trying to use a Wave Editor to cut a CD into tracks . . . I have so many programs and so many guides that I am getting confused as to which is for what.

Prior to this I only used ripitforme, dvdshrink and a different version of Nero.

Out of my league? Yes, just for awhile longer!!!

Thanks.

You're correct. I totally forgot about setting chapter marks in Nero. Just so used to doing everything with VobBlanker.

No such thing as different types of torrent files. A torrent file simply points to/tracks whatever you are downloading. Almost every movie/video/TV episode downloaded via bitorrent is an Xvid AVI.

Thank you for the correction - I do know that a bittorrent is a method of downloading and does not refer to the files types included in the download.
So far, I am learning about .VOB, .BUP and .IFO files that are part of a VTS folder that includes a file with a .md5 extension. That particular file required a dual layer DVD and, therefore, a dual layer burner which I do not have.
I am also learning about .AVI files .ISO files, .RAR files and .FLAC files. I understand that .Flac files are the best audio format and should be converted to a .wav file as opposed to a .mp3 file where too much of the quality is lost. I've also learned that if the file is already .mp3 there is no going back to a better quality file and it is best utilized in .mp3 players.
On top of this, I am learning about the bittorrent process, the software - not just the hows but also the whys - so that I can fully understand the process.
On top of that, I am experimenting with adding chapters? to CD's that come in one large file so that the only choices are to play the entire CD or use forward and reverse. Now, I am coming across that challenge in an .AVI concert that is just one long file.
I have downloaded the Nero Help Files for the programs I am using and they are great at explaining how to do something but not why you would or would not choose to do it a particular way. It's as if I know of five different options to choose from but do not know which one to select and why so that I end up with the best end product.
I am providing this information so that you will see that I am trying to do my homework, I am serious about learning and I ask questions to fill in the blanks that I haven't been able to fill in elsewhere.
I stopped downloading torrent files until I can process the contents of the ones I have and then clear up the hard drive. I'll either have to buy another hard drive (but I'd really like a dual layer burner . . . ) Unfortunately, for now, I can't get either!
I will check out the Nero help link that was provided in case I have missed it somehow!
Thank you for your time and your experience and your willingness to share it. I agree, before someone else says it, it is a long post!
Thanks!!!
