From reading all the posts about the fall update (and recent minor update) Is there any major reason why I would want to update from iXtreme 1.3? (it might be 1.4, I haven't touched it since last fall 2007)
I'm just not sure if I would be noticed more overall, if I left the firmware alone, or does the latest version of iX offer more "safety" in the banning sense. I don't have a gold account, I obviously don't play live. I DO purchase songs for Rock Band and such, and use an original disc for that game. (if it makes a difference)
Does anyone suspect that changing the firmware at this stage, after using a specific version for a year, could be noticed moreso, than updating the firmware either 1. before I install this last update, or 2. after the update but before the fall update hits? Of course everything is just a guess at this point, but i'm sure there are factors that can limit/increase the odds of a ban occuring. Maybe i've been floating under the radar from just having silver and not making too many waves with activity? :-P

if u got 1.3 your fine, I got it now, . From what my buddy told me and u can google this also, is 1.4 is more for dvd speed, stock is 12x, most people like to lower to 8x but would get u banned for midding the console.
As for the new update, C4eva said on the scene that this last patch was a pre patch for the upcoming dash update, it had NO security checks and it ran as the same as when xbox first came out, so your pretty safe. Im guessing they are giving up, why becuase they are spending mor emoney on people to do security update then tehy loose from games, considering hackers modders take BROKEN 360's and do case swaps for new ones, MAJOR $ loss there if u keep bricking a system. Trust me, my buddies all get NEW ones from old ones all the time.
I have had my xbox since 06 Feb and NEVER been baned running all stealth patch games and have never had rrod or ban, knocking on wood but hey its a good ride!
I've been wondering, if I get my 360 flashed with ixtreme 1.4 and microsoft releases an update, will it be safe to update of will I have to flash back to my original firmware in order to obtain the official updates?
You should be fine, I would not worry too much about it. Given that the new lite ones would mor ethen be moddable by APRIL 09 and that if they DOP have a security patch for a enw ban hammer there would be a counter firmwar efix within 4 months. Its cat n mouse really.
Wait, so if I used the 8x dvd speed firmware then I'm going to be banned like immediately?
I just modded my 360 with 1.41 and the 8x speed. I haven't been on Live for a few days yet, I'm still haven't decided whether I should just hook up live or wait for the fall update.
But will I get banned easier for having 8x speed? Cuz that's what it sounded like you were saying.
